Hi, thanks for your reply! That sounds really similar, and I'm glad to hear that everything is ok with you. Can you remember how much the repair cost? And have you noticed any other problems since then? I just want to be prepared to see if I need to invest more in the workshop. Best regards and thank you in advance!

Hello, I'm glad to hear that I was able to help! Well, the repair of the EGR valve cost me €355 at the time. Since then I have had no more problems. The car has been running perfectly ever since, just as it should. But of course, every case is individual. I would advise you to go to the garage more often than not. Good luck and let me know how it turns out! Best regards!

Hello, thank you very much for your quick reply! I'm reassured to hear that your car is running well after the repair. 355 sounds pretty reasonable considering the circumstances and how many kilometers my car has driven. I will follow your advice and make an appointment at the garage as soon as possible. Have a nice week and thanks again for your help! Best regards!

Hello, I recently had a similar problem with my 2006 Audi A3 diesel. The same symptoms - check engine light, rough engine running, loss of power and jerking at idle... not to mention the strong exhaust smell. In the end, I was diagnosed with a defective EGR valve. It was a serious problem, but it could be repaired. The EGR valve was jammed and had to be replaced. After the repair, the car ran like new again, so don't worry too much. Nevertheless, a trip to the garage is advisable in any case. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Best regards!
