Thanks for sharing those details. My alternator was also misfiring and caused similar battery malfunction issues. After replacing both parts, the power management system works perfectly now, no more voltage drop or starting problems. How much did the full repair cost you in the end? Have you noticed any other electrical issues since getting it fixed? Just want to make sure there arent any recurring problems to watch out for with these low voltage symptoms.

After getting the alternator and voltage regulator replaced, my auxiliary power system has been working flawlessly. The battery malfunction warning disappeared completely and engine start is smooth every time, even during cold weather. The total repair came to 290 Euro for parts and labor, significantly less than what some shops were quoting. The low voltage issues never returned after fixing the battery charging system. The dashboard electronics, lights, and all auxiliary systems have remained stable. Just make sure to keep an eye on battery voltage during the first few weeks after repair, if readings stay consistent, you can be confident the charging problem is fully resolved. Its been 18 months since the repair and no recurring electrical problems at all. The battery holds charge perfectly and the alternator maintains proper voltage. Getting both components replaced together was definitely the right approach for a long-term fix.

Just wanted to close the loop on my repair experience. Finally took it to a different mechanic who properly diagnosed the alternator issue. The whole job including parts and labor cost me 320 Euro, which was way less than what the first shop wanted to charge without even fixing the real problem. Got both the alternator and battery replaced since the constant voltage drop had damaged the old battery. After 2 months, no more battery failure warnings or engine start issues. All the dashboard electronics work perfectly now. The mechanic showed me the actual voltage readings before and after, huge difference. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of throwing more money at temporary fixes. The auxiliary battery system is working exactly as it should now. Definitely learned to be more thorough with electrical diagnostics rather than just assuming its a simple battery problem.

Had exactly this issue with my 2008 Audi A3 1.8T. The symptoms matched perfectly, voltage drop during starts and unreliable car electronics. Initially thought it was just battery replacement needed, but diagnostic testing revealed a failing alternator that wasnt properly charging the system. The alternator problem caused constant drain on the battery, making the auxiliary power systems unstable. Main signs were dimming headlights during idle and dashboard electronics acting erratically. The engine start became increasingly difficult, especially on cold mornings. The fix required complete alternator replacement along with a new voltage regulator. This resolved both the charging issues and the erratic electronic behavior. While the repair was significant, it prevented potential damage to other electrical components. Key warning signs to watch for: Battery warning light staying on after engine start, Flickering dashboard displays, Gradual drop in power to accessories, Whining noise from alternator area, Battery repeatedly dying despite being charged Would recommend getting the alternator tested before replacing any batteries. A proper diagnostic of the entire charging system will save money long term.
