Audi A3 Diesel 2015: Strange noises - experience with boost pressure control wanted

Stalling while idling

Hello everyone, I'm worried about my 2015 Audi A3 Diesel with just under 187,500 km on the clock. My last experience with my garage was not so good and the car is currently making strange noises. Check engine light is on and it's hissing and whistling, not to mention its tendency to stall at idle and also shudder. I think it might be the boost control, but I'm no expert. Have any of you had similar problems and can perhaps share your experiences? How have your mechanics dealt with it? Thanks in advance!

Hey, had something similar with my 2012 Audi A6. For me it was a serious problem, the turbocharger was shot. Sounded exactly like you described. The car shuddered and it also stalled at idle sometimes. I would advise you to go to a mechanic and have it checked. My car is now running again. Take care and good luck!

Hey, oh dear, that sounds really serious. I hope it's not the turbocharger in my case too. How much did the repair cost you, if you don't mind me asking? And has anything similar come up again since then, or is it really running smoothly again now? Thank you!

Hey, then there was no more problem. I have to say, the repair wasn't cheap. I had a faulty boost pressure regulator, which cost me a good €1520. But since the mechanic fixed the position sensor of the boost pressure control, my car is running smoothly again. Hopefully it's not that bad for you, but it's better to have it checked by a professional. Good luck with that!

Hey, thanks for your candor. That really is a lot of money. But it sounds like it was worth every penny if the car is now running smoothly again. I will take your advice to heart and get my car checked as soon as possible. Hope it's not as expensive as yours, but if that's the solution then I guess I'll have to take it. Thanks again!

I guess that the sensor of Lmm has a way the cables are worn through I have changed the Lmm once and then it ran a whole day without problems can that work?

It's possible that a faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, also known as Lmm, could cause some of the issues you're experiencing, such as stalling and rough idling. Check the wiring and connections to the MAF sensor for any signs of wear or damage. If the cables are worn, repairing or replacing them might resolve the issue. After checking the wiring, if the problem persists, consider having the MAF sensor tested or replaced. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
