Audi A2 cruise control no longer works

Fault stored

Cruise control without function

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with my 2002 Audi A2 petrol engine. The cruise control is not working at all and the fault memory even says "Cruise control function restricted". I suspect that it might be the "cruise control without function". Has anyone here ever had a similar problem and can perhaps give some tips? I would be particularly interested to know how this was solved in the workshop and what your experiences were. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Audi A4 Diesel from 2000. Although I have little experience with cars, I went to my garage. The diagnosis revealed that the control unit was faulty, which cost me 1000 euros. In order to help you more accurately, could you please provide a few more details about your car? Such as: Has your car undergone any recent repairs? And how old is the battery? Best regards

Hi, thanks for your reply. I had an inspection about 3 months ago. The battery in my A2 is now 4 years old. I've driven 96543 km so far, if that matters. LG

Hi, thanks for the additional information. You've come a long way with your A2, that's impressive! A faulty battery can also often lead to strange problems, but as yours is only 4 years old, I would rule that out for now. Have you noticed any changes since the last inspection? Unfortunately, garages can sometimes make mistakes that lead to problems later on. Otherwise, my next step would be to have the control unit checked, as this seems to be a common source of errors. It did cost me a bit of money though... Please keep me up to date! Good luck and best regards

Hi, thanks for the advice. No, I haven't noticed any changes since the last inspection. Perhaps I really should have the control unit checked. Your advice is very helpful. I'll keep you posted when I take the car to the garage. Until then, all the best and thanks again! LG

Hello Birgi, Before you have the control unit checked, the workshop should first check the button or lever and the wiring. I've had it happen several times now that it was the lever itself. MFG
