ASX DPF Warning: Mechanic Advice Needed ASAP

DPF regeneration failure

Check engine light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some dashboard headaches on my 2018 Mitsubishi ASX Diesel (111,428 km). The check engine light came on, along with DPF regen failure warnings. I'm guessing it might be related to the AdBlue system, but after a bad experience with my previous mechanic, I'm a bit hesitant to go back. Has anyone experienced similar issues with their ASX? Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and maybe some recommendations for reliable mechanics who know their way around these problems. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I had a similar situation with my 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel last year. The AdBlue warning popped up along with the check engine light. Initially thought it was just low fluid, but turns out the AdBlue injector was clogged and the sensor was acting up. Took it to the dealer (after my regular mechanic couldn't sort it), and they found crystallized AdBlue blocking the system. They had to clean the injector and replace one sensor to get everything working properly again. The whole thing took about a day and a half to fix. In my case, it wasn't too serious, but you definitely want to get it checked soon because these warnings can lead to reduced engine performance or even prevent the car from starting after multiple ignition cycles. My advice? Find a mechanic who specializes in diesel engines and has experience with AdBlue systems. The DPF regen failure warning is something you don't want to ignore either, they're often connected issues. Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for sharing that! It's really helpful to hear about your experience. Pretty much sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? And has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you had any other issues pop up? Cheers!

Hey again! Glad I could help! Yeah, after seeing the mechanic, everything's been running like a dream. The total bill came to 65€ for sorting out the Ad Blue level that was too low, pretty reasonable compared to what I was expecting! It's actually funny you ask about other issues because since getting it fixed, my Outlander's been running better than ever. No more warning lights, no more stress about the DPF regen, and the engine's performing great. It was definitely worth getting it sorted properly rather than trying to ignore those warning lights. Just make sure whoever looks at yours knows their stuff with diesel engines and Ad Blue systems. Once you get it fixed, you'll probably wonder why you didn't do it sooner, I know I did! Let me know how you get on with yours!

Thanks so much for all the details! I actually just got back from the mechanic today. Took your advice and found a diesel specialist, what a difference! Turns out my issue was pretty similar to yours. They found crystallized AdBlue and a faulty sensor. Bill came to about 750€, bit more than yours since they had to replace the sensor completely. But honestly, it was worth every penny. The car's running amazingly now, like a completely different vehicle! No more warning lights, and the engine feels much smoother. Really glad I didn't put it off any longer. Should've done this weeks ago! Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me make the right decision. Sometimes it's just good to hear from someone who's been through the same thing, you know? Catch you later!
