Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful info. You're right, it does sound just like what I'm dealing with. Hey, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair job? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other issues pop up? Just trying to get an idea of what I might be in for here!
Hey again! Great news, I can give you a proper update now since getting it fixed. After dealing with these problems, I took it to the mechanic, and they found that one cylinder was having pressure fluctuations, just like they suspected. They fixed it up, and you know what's really cool? All those consequential error codes that were showing up? Theyaged to clear those without any extra cost! As for how everything's running now, it's like having a completely different car! No more power issues, starts up perfectly every time, and the engine's running super smooth. I'd say it's actually performing better than it was before all this started. Real talk though, while I got lucky with those error codes being cleared for free, the initial repairs for the fuel pump and injectors did set me back about £1,800. Bit of a hit to the wallet, but considering how well it's running now, I'd say it was worth every penny. Hope this helps give you a better picture of what you might be looking at. Let me know if you need anything else!
Thanks so much for all that detailed info! I've actually just gotten back from the mechanic today, and wow, what a journey that was! Found this great specialist shop through a and they really knew their stuff. Turned out you were spot on, it was the fuel system causing all the drama. The mechanic showed me the worn-out parts and explained everything really clearly. Bill came to about £1,600, which wasn't as bad as I was expecting after hearing your experience. Got to drive it home today and honestly, it feels like a brand new car! No more check engine light, starts up perfectly, and that power issue is completely gone. Such a relief to have it sorted properly. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it really helped me know what to expect and not panic too much about the whole situation. Sometimes it's just good to hear from someone who's been through the same thing! Cheers for all your help!
Here's my response: I had very similar issues with my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Diesel last winter. The symptoms you're describing ring a bell, my car was showing the same problems. It turned out to be a faulty high-pressure fuel pump and damaged injectors. The error codes were causing a cascade of other issues in the system. After fixing the pump and injectors, they also had to clear several consequential error codes in the ECU. The car would sometimes go into limp mode because of these stored errors, causing the power loss you mentioned. This isn't something to ignore, it's a serious fuel system issue that can get worse if left unchecked. In my case, metal particles from the failing pump were already starting to contaminate the fuel system. I'd suggest finding a specialized diesel mechanic who knows Mitsubishis well. The initial diagnosis needs to be spot on because these issues often have knock-on effects. Hope this helps and good luck with the repairs!
