Hey there! Yes, I can tell you exactly what I paid, it was 255.00 € for the whole antenna repair job. And I'm happy to report that since getting it fixed, everything's been working perfectly! The radio reception is crystal clear now, and the navigation system is spot-on. It's such a relief not having to deal with those annoying signal issues anymore. Honestly, it was worth every penny. Since I had it fixed, I haven't had any other electrical problems pop up, not even the smallest glitch. The mechanic did a really thorough job with the antenna replacement, making sure everything was properly sealed to prevent any future water damage. I know you mentioned having a bad experience with your previous mechanic, but if you're around my area, I'd be happy to recommend the garage that fixed mine. They really knew what they were doing with these Vauxhall electrical issues. Sometimes it's worth paying a bit more to get it done right the first time, you know what I mean?
Just got back from the mechanic and wanted to update everyone! Took your advice and got the antenna replaced, what a difference it's made! The whole thing cost me about 280€, a bit more than what you paid, but totally worth it. The mechanic I found was actually great, super transparent about what needed to be done. They showed me the old antenna and wow, it was pretty messed up from water damage. Who knew such a small part could cause so much trouble? Everything's working perfectly now, nav system's spot on and the radio's crystal clear. Such a relief to have it sorted! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Definitely keeping this mechanic's number for future reference! Guess I can finally enjoy my audiobooks on my morning commute again!
I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Insignia Diesel last winter. The antenna was indeed the culprit, turned out the base connection was corroded and water had gotten in. Got it fixed at my local garage after the navigation system and radio both went dead. They diagnosed it pretty quickly, the antenna assembly needed complete replacement because the internal wiring was damaged beyond repair. Not a hugely serious issue, but definitely annoying. The job took about 2 hours total. My mechanic mentioned this is actually quite common with Vauxhalls from that era, especially if the car is regularly parked outdoors. If you're getting zero signal on both nav and audio, it's most likely the antenna rather than the head unit itself.
