Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Tiguan has done 78340 km so far. My last service was recently, apart from the steering column motor issue there have never been any major problems. That's really annoying! 920 euros is a lot of money... Did that include the cost of the spare parts? And how long did it take for your car to be ready for use again?

Hey, no problem, always welcome! Yes, the 920 euros included both the cost of the spare part and the labor. Unfortunately, replacing the steering column motor is not cheap fun... On my Passat, the repair took about three days in total. This included the diagnosis, ordering the part and finally the replacement. It was quite an inconvenience, but luckily I had a loaner car available during the process. Maybe you can get one too? Might be an option if you're reliant on your car. Hope this helps you!

Thanks for the helpful information! Three days is of course quite a long time... A loan car would certainly be an option, I might have to ask my garage. Thanks again for your support, that definitely helped. I'll let you know how it goes. It's really great to get help so quickly and competently here. Have a nice day!

Hi, first of all, I would describe myself as someone with some experience with cars. My car is a 2016 VW Passat, so pretty similar to yours. I also had a problem with the steering column motor once. I took my car to the garage and in the end it was 920 euros to solve the problem. In my case it was exactly as you suspect, the steering column motor was defective. To go into more detail, could you give me a few more details about your car? Mileage, previous repairs and so on could be helpful. Hope that helps you!
