Thanks for sharing your experience with the Touareg wiring harness issue. I actually had the SOS signal failure in my Amarok too, and the control module needed a complete reprogramming. The connection issues started spreading to other systems just like you described. Did you remember roughly how much the full repair cost in your case? Also, has everything been working properly since the fix? Just wondering if any other automotive electronics issues popped up afterward, as these telematics problems can sometimes come back if not fully resolved.

I took it back to a VW specialist who properly diagnosed and fixed the wiring harness corrosion. The SOS signal failure and control module issues were resolved by replacing a damaged connector and cleaning the entire connection area. The full repair came to around 950€, which included labor for removing the dashboard and replacing several corroded components. The good news is the emergency call system malfunction has been completely fixed since that repair. No more diagnostic codes or system reset warnings in the past 8 months. The automotive electronics are all functioning normally now. The specialist also applied a protective coating to prevent future water ingress, which was lacking in the original installation. Definitely worth getting a proper fix rather than temporary solutions, since these connection issues tend to spread and cause more extensive damage if left unchecked. Just make sure whoever works on it fully documents the repair process and any diagnostic codes for future reference.

You know, I finally got this sorted last week. Took it to a certified VW workshop that actually specializes in automotive electronics, what a difference compared to my first mechanic experience. They immediately identified that the control module needed a complete reprogramming and found some damaged wiring near the telematics unit. The diagnostic codes were all pointing to a central issue with the emergency call system. The repair took about 6 hours total and cost 780€, including the full system diagnostic and reprogramming. They showed me the corroded wiring they found and replaced during the inspection. Car safety features are all working perfectly now, no more warning lights or system failures. The mechanics also applied some extra waterproofing around the connections to prevent future issues. Really glad I didnt wait any longer to get it properly fixed. All those unusual call failure alerts and diagnostic codes have completely stopped. The speedometer cluster is clear, and the SOS system is functioning as it should. Definitely worth getting it done by specialists who know these systems inside out.

Had a similar situation with my 2020 VW Touareg V6 TDI. The control module was showing multiple fault codes and the emergency call system kept failing. Initially thought it was a minor glitch, but it turned out the main telematics wiring harness had severe corrosion at the connector points. The malfunction was caused by water ingress near the main connection hub under the dashboard. These automotive electronics issues often start small but can escalate to affect multiple systems if left unchecked. The repair required complete removal of the dashboard to access and replace the damaged harness assembly. This is definitely worth immediate attention. Faulty emergency call systems can be a serious safety concern, and corrupted signals from damaged wiring can cascade into other vehicle systems. The diagnostic codes should be properly scanned and logged by a certified workshop that specializes in VW control module diagnostics. The repair was extensive but necessary to prevent further damage to connected systems. Water damage to electrical components rarely fixes itself and typically worsens over time.
