Thanks for sharing your experience. I had those exact same symptoms with my MiTo last winter. The transmission performance issues and safety mode warnings really had me worried. The electrical system diagnosis and transmission fluid change fixed it completely. Glad I caught it before any permanent transmission damage occurred. Do you remember roughly how much the full repair ended up costing you? Also curious if youve had any other transmission issues pop up since getting it fixed? My car has been running great but Im always cautious about potential problems returning.

After getting the undervoltage issue fixed, my Giulietta has been running perfectly with no automatic transmission problems. The repair totaled 240 Euro, which included diagnosing the electrical system and replacing the hydraulic fluid in the transmission. The transmission flush and oil replacement were essential since the old fluid had degraded due to the electrical problems. Since the repair, the automatic gearbox has been shifting smoothly with no warning lights or safety mode activations. Its been over a year now without any transmission issues returning. The key was catching the problem early before the undervoltage could cause permanent damage to the transmission control module. Getting both the electrical system and transmission fluid addressed in one repair was definitely the right call. Regular maintenance of the automatic transmission fluid levels has kept everything working properly. The investment in proper diagnosis and repair was worth it to prevent more costly transmission damage down the road.

Thank you everyone for the helpful advice. Wanted to update on how my repair went since others might find it useful. Took it to a transmission specialist who immediately identified the electrical problem. The car needed a new voltage regulator and transmission oil change. Total bill came to 280 Euro which wasnt as bad as I feared. The automatic transmission is now shifting perfectly, no more warning lights or safety mode issues. The mechanic showed me the old transmission oil which was pretty degraded. Getting both the electrical fix and fluid change done together definitely solved the slipping transmission problems. Been driving it for about 3 weeks now with zero issues. The car feels like new again. Actually glad this happened since the transmission oil desperately needed changing anyway. Will definitely keep up with regular maintenance from now on to avoid similar problems. For anyone else seeing these symptoms, dont wait around hoping it will fix itself. The early repair probably saved me from much more expensive transmission damage down the road.

Had similar transmission problems with my 2012 Alfa Giulietta. The automatic transmission symptoms you describe match what I experienced, erratic shifting patterns and limp mode activation. A transmission flush alone might not solve your issue. The slipping transmission and safety mode typically indicate an electrical problem, specifically an undervoltage condition affecting the transmission control module. The fix required: Testing the battery and charging system, Replacing a faulty voltage regulator, Reprogramming the transmission control unit, Complete automatic gearbox oil replacement This was a serious repair as the transmission control module can suffer permanent damage if the undervoltage issue persists. The fault often mimics low transmission fluid symptoms, but its actually an electrical problem. Recommend having the charging system thoroughly tested before agreeing to any transmission work. A proper diagnostic scan should show voltage-related fault codes. The automatic transmission itself may be perfectly fine mechanically. Quick checks you can do: Check battery terminals for corrosion, Test battery voltage when fully charged, Look for any blown fuses, Note if other electrical systems act strange Getting these symptoms properly diagnosed early helps prevent more expensive transmission damage.
