Alfa Fog Sensor Fault Triggers Multiple Electrical Issues

My Alfa 147 (2006, gasoline, 133k km) has multiple electrical issues pointing to a possible fog sensor malfunction. The AC wont work, mirror heating is dead, and washer nozzles freeze up in cold weather. The error memory shows related faults. Has anyone experienced similar sensor problems with their Alfa? Looking for tips before heading back to the shop since my last mechanic visit was pretty disappointing.

Had the same electrical issues on my Alfa 159 2009. The fog sensor malfunction caused a chain reaction affecting multiple systems. After extensive testing, the problem was traced to corroded wiring connections near the sensor housing, creating poor conductivity across several circuits. The repair required complete removal of the affected wiring harness section and installation of new connectors. The sensor calibration had to be performed after fixing the connection issues. This resolved all secondary problems including AC functionality and mirror heating. This type of electrical issue is quite serious as it affects multiple vehicle systems and requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the fault points. The visibility sensor system in these Alfa models is interconnected with various comfort functions, which explains why multiple systems were affected simultaneously. Most generic repair shops struggle with these specific sensor configurations, so finding a technician familiar with Alfa electrical systems is crucial. The repair process is complex but completely fixable with proper diagnosis and the right replacement parts.

I faced identical problems with my Alfa 147 last winter, multiple electrical issues linked to a faulty climate control system. A proper diagnosis revealed humidity sensor issues causing havoc with other electrical components. Thankfully, getting it fixed resolved all connected problems including the washer nozzles and mirror heating. Did the repair hold up well over time? Curious about the cost too since these electrical issues often come with hefty bills. Were there any recurring problems with other car sensors after the initial fix?

The humidity sensor repair has been completely reliable since getting it fixed at the shop. The total cost came to 95 Euro for fixing the faulty cable connection, which was much less than expected for such a complex electrical issue. After proper sensor calibration and resolving the connection problem, all related systems returned to normal operation. The dashboard warning lights cleared up immediately, and there have been zero recurring issues with any car sensors over the past months. The AC system, mirror heating, and washer nozzles now work flawlessly even in challenging weather conditions. The key was identifying that compromised wiring was affecting multiple electrical systems through the central sensor network. Having this specific sensor-related problem diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician proved to be the right approach, preventing any potential cascade of electrical failures down the line. The relatively low repair cost made it even more worthwhile.

Finally got around to visiting a mechanic who actually knew what they were doing. The automotive sensor diagnosis showed exactly what was suspected, faulty wiring affecting the humidity sensor system. The repair took about 3 hours and cost 280 Euro, which included complete harness replacement and recalibration. The dashboard warning lights disappeared right after the fix. Best part is the AC now works perfectly, mirror heating is back to normal, and those annoying frozen washer nozzles are a thing of the past. Such a relief after dealing with these electrical issues for months. The mechanic showed me the corroded wiring that was causing the malfunction. Pretty shocking how a small connection problem can affect so many systems. They also performed a full electrical diagnostic to ensure no other sensor problems were lurking. Been running smoothly for a few weeks now, no warning lights, no electrical gremlins. Should have gone to a specialist sooner instead of wasting time with general repair shops that couldnt properly diagnose these sensor issues.
