Air conditioning in VW Polo 2016 goes on strike: possible fault in the interior temperature sensor?

Hello folks! I have a problem with my 2016 VW Polo Diesel (65000 km run). Recently, the air conditioning only runs warm, the heating/cooling goes on strike and the A/C system does not switch on. I suspect it is related to the signal error of the interior temperature sensor. Has anyone ever had a problem like this and how did it go at the garage? Would love to hear your experiences before I have another horror trip to the mechanic. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 VW Golf last year. The air conditioning and heating/cooling system suddenly stopped working. At the garage, they found that the interior temperature sensor was sending an incorrect signal to the air conditioning system. It was quite a job to fix, but after replacing the sensor and checking the air conditioning system, everything ran smoothly again. Of course, it could be different for you, but that sounds a lot like my case. I would definitely have the sensor checked or replaced.

Hi, your problem sounds really similar to what I experienced with my Polo. I'd be interested to know approximately how much you paid for the repair at the garage? Has anything happened to your air conditioning again since then or has everything been running smoothly since? Thanks for your help!

The problem with my Golf was actually caused by the interior temperature sensor and the mechanic did a great job of fixing it. I spent around €880 at the garage to fix the air conditioning control unit. Really expensive, but since then my air conditioning has been running like clockwork. No further problems since the repair. Hopefully it's just as easy to fix on your Polo.

Hello again! Thanks for the detailed information. 880 € is a lot of money, but if it solves the problem, it's worth it. I will go to the garage tomorrow and ask about this sensor. Really good to hear that everything has been going well since then. Thanks for your advice! I hope it will be solved in the same uncomplicated way on my Polo.
