Air conditioning and heating in Seat Altea 2015 not working properly

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Blower does not work properly

Hello everyone, I'm currently having some problems with my 2015 Seat Altea (petrol engine, approx. 92432 km mileage). The air conditioning and heating are not working as they should and the fan doesn't seem to be working properly either. Have you had any experience with similar problems? What do you think it could be? My suspicion is 'air conditioning stored fault'. My visit to the mechanic last time was more than disappointing. Does anyone have any tips for a good garage or any ideas of what I could do myself before I go back to the garage? Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I can relate to what you are going through, was recently in a similar situation with my 2018 Seat Leon. Had problems with the heating and air conditioning. It turned out that the blower motor was faulty. This is a serious problem because it can affect safety and comfort while driving. Try recalibrating the blower if you are a bit technically minded. Otherwise, I would suggest that you visit a garage as soon as possible, perhaps a different one to the last time if you were unhappy there. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply and the recommendation. It looks like it could really be the blower motor. Do you remember how much the repair cost you and whether any other problems have arisen since then? I'm wondering whether it's worth having it done in the workshop or whether I should try it myself. Thanks in advance!

Hello, you're welcome! I actually had a faulty air conditioning control unit that needed to be repaired. The repair cost me around €880. No further problems have arisen since then. The air conditioning fault was also rectified when the mechanic replaced the air conditioning control unit. Of course, it's always worth considering whether to try to fix it yourself, but with specific problems like this, you may end up breaking more than you fix if you don't know exactly what you're doing. And then the costs can be even higher. Just food for thought. I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Hello again! Many thanks for the detailed feedback. 880€ is quite a lot of money, but of course better than a broken car. I think I'll look around and try another garage that has good reviews to make sure I'm getting my money's worth. It's reassuring to hear that you haven't had any further problems. I think you're right, it's probably better to leave it to the professionals. I really don't want to take any more risks. Your advice was very helpful, thank you! Wish you all the best!
