Advice wanted: Electronics problems and weak battery in Renault Modus 2012

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

General electric malfunction

Fault stored

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Renault Modus, year of manufacture 2012, gasoline engine. The car shows general electronic malfunctions, stores errors, has low battery on start and the lights flicker or are dark. It has occurred to me that maybe the disconnection of terminal 30 could be the problem. Have any of you experienced similar symptoms with your car and how did you get it sorted at the garage? I would like some advice on how to isolate the problem and what to look out for when fixing it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, your problem reminds me of a similar situation I had with my 2010 Renault Clio diesel. The symptoms were almost the same. So I understand how frustrating it can be. I have little experience in car repairs, so I decided to take the car to my regular garage. The diagnosis was a faulty battery sensor. It wasn't really cheap, it cost me 315 euros. But I haven't had any problems since. I would recommend that you also have the battery sensor in your Renault Modus checked. Maybe that's the cause in your case too. Of course, I can't say for sure without knowing more details about your car. Could you perhaps share some information about your battery? How old it is, for example? That might help you to narrow down your problem. I hope this helps you. Have a safe journey!

Thanks for your advice. I actually still have the first battery in it, so it's almost 9 years old. Now that you mention it, the battery sensor could actually be the culprit. I last had a service at 51012 km, but nothing was noticed on the battery or the sensor. I'll take my car to the garage tomorrow and have it checked. I'll then report whether that was it. Thanks a million and have a good trip!

Hey, I'm glad that my advice might be helpful! At 9 years old, the battery could indeed be getting a bit long in the tooth. Battery sensors can sometimes be tricky and don't immediately indicate faults. The next time you visit the garage, a thorough check is definitely a good idea. Tell them to take a close look at the sensor too. I'm curious to see if this really solves the problem with your Renault Modus. I wish you every success and hope that you'll soon be back on the road without any worries! Since the repair, I've been driving my Clio again without any worries. So, be sure to keep us up to date! Greetings and have a good trip!

Hello, I'm glad to hear that! With such an old battery, it could indeed be that the sensor is the problem. Yes, please, be sure to have it checked and keep us informed. Your feedback can also be very helpful for the others and help us all to avoid similar problems in the future. I hope your Renault Modus is back in top shape soon and you have a good drive! Thanks for your reply and good luck at the garage tomorrow! Have a safe journey!
