Hi, thanks for your quick reply and the tips. I can see I'm definitely not in for a cheap repair... Can you remember how much it cost you? And have you had similar problems since then, or is your car now running smoothly? Have you had any more problems since you had it repaired? I really hope it runs smoothly again after the repair. Cheers!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! The whole thing cost me around €560. That was for replacing the broken glow plug due to wear and tear and all the work. Apart from that, my car has been in great shape ever since. The glow plug fault was fixed by my mechanic and I have had no further problems. Since the repair, there have been no more problems with the preheating light or the black smoke - everything is running perfectly again. So I think you shouldn't have any problems after the repair either. Keep your fingers crossed!

Great, that doesn't sound too bad. Despite the cost, it's reassuring to hear that there were no more problems afterwards. Your experience has helped me a lot. I'll probably go to the workshop tomorrow and get it all sorted out. With a bit of luck, everything will run like clockwork again. Thanks again for your help! Cheers!

@Dragos
What means eror P0380 ?
The error code P0380 indicates a problem with the glow plug/heater circuit "A". This could be due to a faulty glow plug, a problem with the wiring, or a bad relay. It's best to start by inspecting the glow plugs and their connections. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, I recommend taking your car to a professional mechanic. Please keep us updated on your progress. Do you have any other questions?

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2004 Ford Focus Diesel. My glow plugs were also defective due to wear. Same symptoms as you have: preglow light on, black smoke, boiling of check engine lights and DPF malfunctions. In my case, the repair was definitely not a piece of cake. The glow plugs all had to be replaced, which was quite a time-consuming job. It was also necessary to carry out the DPF regeneration and reset the engine control unit. That can be a serious thing, especially if, as you say, you also have problems with cold starts and use more fuel. In your case, I would definitely have it checked. But don't worry, once treated, your car should run as normal again. Hope that helps you a bit.
