Addressing Overheating and Check Engine Light Issues in 2022 Seat Tarraco, Possible Auxiliary Coolant Pump Problems

Overheating

Hey folks! I've been having some weird issues with my 2022 Seat Tarraco, Gasoline engine lately. I've noticed it's been overheating and the check engine light is on too. I've been thinking it might be the auxiliary coolant pump, but not sure. Has anyone else experienced this and got it fixed? Would really appreciate your tips or hints about troubleshooting this. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2020 Seat Ibiza, Diesel engine. I'm no car guru, but I got some tricks up my sleeve. Turned out, the issue wasn't as bad as I initially thought. I went over to the local workshop, and after a thorough check, the issue was due to a defective cable connection. I ended up paying 170 Euro to have it fixed, which wasn't as expensive as I feared! Before I can help further, could you provide more information about your Tarraco? Have you noticed any particular situations when the overheating occurs or any odd noises? More details will help to narrow down the problem.

Hey! Thanks for your input. There's no specific time I've noticed the overheating. It seems pretty unusual and no unusual noises so far. However, I noticed the temperature increases more when I'm stuck in traffic, riding at low speeds. My Seat Tarraco has clocked 122595 KM now and its latest service was just done a couple of weeks ago. Mechanics did a general check but nothing appeared wrong then. But this problem seems to persist. I'll definitely check with my local garage about the cable connection too. Appreciate your help!

Hey! Glad to see your swift response. Thanks for adding those details, and it's really helpful in giving a clearer picture. Since overheating occurs at low speeds and in traffic, I'd suggest checking your fan operation. When you're stuck in traffic or driving at lower speeds, your car relies heavily on its fans to keep the engine cool – this might especially be the case if you notice the temperature increase in such scenarios. Having said that, though, the "check engine" light could mean many things – a coolant pump failure, yes, but also a myriad of other issues too. Since it's a 2022 model, hopefully, it's still under warranty. So, before you start spending cash at the local garage, I'd recommend taking it to your dealer if it's an option. And another important factor – Remember, the check engine light is essentially a warning light, so even if the car seems to perform normally, don't ignore it. It might be signaling a more complex issue that needs early intervention. It's just my two cents as an individual who faced similar symptoms, albeit in another model. Let's hope the issue isn't an expensive fix for your Tarraco! Keep us updated with any progress.

Cheers for the insightful thoughts. I didn't even consider that the fan could be a part of the problem. And you're right, I still have a few months left on the warranty. I'll certainly head over to the dealer first before trying anything else. Thanks for reminding me about the importance of the check engine light as well, I'll make sure not to neglect it. Your advice has been really useful and has given me a couple of new angles to approach this issue. Fingers crossed, the problem isn't anything major and can be sorted without much hassle. I'll update after the visit to the dealer. Thanks again!
