AdBlue empty and MKL on a 2017 BMW 5 Series

Check engine light on

|

DPF regeneration failure

Hi friends, I'm a bit worried about my 2017 BMW 5 Series (diesel), which now has a whopping 145741 km on the clock. My check engine light is on, I have problems with the DPF regeneration. The warning light in my speedometer is really worrying me! Does anyone happen to know this? I suspect that these problems are to do with my empty AdBlue tank and the exhaust gas purification system is not working properly.

Hi, no need to panic! Understand your worries because I had the same problem with my 2012 BMW X5r a few months ago. The check engine light and DPF regen issues were exactly the same symptoms and the AdBlue indicator. The mechanic then filled the AdBlue tank and performed a manual regeneration of the DPF. The exhaust gas purification system then worked again. Silly question, but have you ever topped up the AdBlue? Greetings

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! That was exactly what I needed. Of course I just forgot to fill up with Ad Blue. I guess the warning light threw me off a bit :D Thank you!

Hey, then make sure that the regeneration of the DPF is really working now. If not, you should definitely have it checked again by the professionals! Are the warning lights off for you now? Greetings
