Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hi everyone, I have a strange problem with my 2018 VW Arteon Diesel. The ABS warning light is constantly flashing, the ABS/DSC system is not working properly, and warnings light up in my speedometer. Errors are also stored. I suspect there may be a speed signal fault. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me some troubleshooting tips? I'm particularly interested in how your garage fixed the problem and what your experiences were. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I had a similar experience with my 2016 VW Passat Diesel, which is not so far removed from the Arteon. While driving I noticed that the ABS warning light came on and the system wasn't working correctly. I have a fairly low level of experience with car repairs, so I decided to take it to the garage. The mechanics checked it out and found that the wheel speed sensor was faulty. The repair cost me 250 euros, which I thought was acceptable because the problem was solved. Fortunately, I didn't have any serious consequential damage. Regarding your question: Can you probably give us more information about the vehicle? How many kilometers has it driven? Is it normally driven in town or country? This will help us to get more context and understand your problem better. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for your reply and the tip! My Arteon already has 30000 km and was last serviced just over 6 months ago. It's been driven mainly on the road, although weekend trips to the countryside are not uncommon. But it's fairly new, so I'm a bit surprised to be having problems already. But that's life, right? I'll take your recommendation and have a mechanic check the wheel speed sensors. Really, thanks for your advice!

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! Yes, unfortunately it's like that sometimes - even newer cars can have problems. But it's good that you had it checked straight away. It was similar with my Passat, also well driven, but the sensor was still faulty. If the wheel speed sensor is the problem and needs to be replaced, I hope the repair won't be too expensive. As I said, mine cost 250 euros, but that can of course vary from garage to garage. One more thing: if the ABS light comes on again after replacing the sensor, it could also be due to a faulty ABS unit. In some cases, these may simply need to be cleaned. So you can enjoy the scenery without worrying. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly! Let us know how it goes!

Hey, that's really helpful information! I'm glad to hear that it's not just me. Your words have reassured me. Of course, I also really hope that the repair won't be too expensive. And your tip about the ABS unit is also important, I'll keep that in mind in case the sensor replacement doesn't solve the problem. Yes, I'm looking forward to being able to spend time on the road again without any worries. I'll keep you posted and let you know how it goes. Thank you very much for your support and good advice.

Hi! It sounds like to me you have a speed sensor issue. You can check the wheel speed sensors for dirt or damage, and ensure the connections are secure. Also a diagnostic scan can help pinpoint the exact fault. Your garage may need to replace the faulty sensor or wiring. Hope this helps!
