ABS Warning + Steering Issues After Tire Pressure Fix

Power steering without function

ABS warning light

Vibrating/shaking steering wheel

Having trouble with my 2022 Chevy Blazer. ABS warning light is on and the steering wheel shakes while driving. Power steering feels heavy too. My tire pressure monitoring system shows low pressure, but I've inflated all tires to spec using a tire gauge. Could low pressure still be causing these issues, or should I be looking elsewhere? Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and found a fix? Interested in hearing about actual repair experiences and what the root cause turned out to be.

Had a similar problem with my 2020 Chevy Equinox. After some time working on cars as a hobby mechanic, I've learned these symptoms often connect. Your issue sounds identical to what I faced, tire pressure sensor was showing low despite proper inflation. Turned out the valve in one tire was defective, causing slow leaks my gauge couldn't catch immediately. The faulty valve was making the tire pressure sensor go crazy, triggering both the ABS and power steering warnings since these systems are interconnected. Got it fixed at a shop, total cost was around 280 for diagnostics and replacing the bad tire valve. The steering shake and heavy feel disappeared right after. Quick questions to help diagnose further: Have you noticed any specific tire losing pressure faster than others? Does the shaking get worse at certain speeds? When was the last time your tire sensors were checked? Would help to know these details to confirm if you're dealing with the same issue I had.

Thanks for the detailed response. I've been monitoring each tire daily with my tire gauge, and the passenger rear consistently drops about 3-4 PSI every couple days while the others hold steady. The steering wheel shake is most noticeable between 45-55 MPH. My latest service was at 136461 KM and they didn't mention any tire sensor issues. I hadn't considered a slow air leak through a faulty valve, that would explain why the pressure loss seems gradual but persistent. Will have the shop check the valve stems since that's a lot cheaper than replacing wheel sensors. The consistent pressure loss even after proper inflation definitely points toward a mechanical issue rather than just a sensor glitch.

Thanks for those extra details, that persistent pressure loss in your rear passenger tire really confirms my suspicions. It's exactly what I experienced with my Equinox before getting it fixed. The slow leak from my faulty valve created a similar pattern, losing 3-4 PSI every few days. When tire pressure drops unevenly like this, it absolutely can trigger those ABS warnings and cause steering issues. A punctured tire or failing valve stem will mess with the whole system. Quick word of advice from my experience, while it's good you're monitoring the inflated tires daily, don't keep refilling that leaking tire for too long. My mechanic explained that constantly running on unstable pressure can stress other components. When I kept refilling mine without fixing the root cause, it eventually affected my wheel alignment. The speed range where you notice the shaking (45-55 MPH) matches my situation perfectly. That's typically when tire pressure issues become most noticeable. The fact that only one tire shows pressure loss while others stay properly inflated really points to a valve stem issue, just like in my case. Based on the identical symptoms, I'd bet you're dealing with the same problem I had. Getting those valve stems checked should be your next move.

Thanks for confirming that, your experience with the Equinox definitely sounds like what I'm dealing with. Makes total sense about not continuing to just refill the problem tire. I've already called my local shop to have them check the valve stems tomorrow. After tracking the tire pressure daily and seeing that consistent 3-4 PSI drop in just that one tire, I'm pretty convinced we're looking at the same issue. The timing of the steering wheel shake at those specific speeds really sealed it for me. I've been using my tire gauge religiously this past week, but you're right, constantly topping up air isn't fixing the underlying problem and could be making things worse. The tire monitoring system has been trying to tell me something's wrong, and now I understand why all these symptoms are connected. I'll update once the shop checks it out, but I'm feeling confident we've identified the culprit with that faulty valve stem.
