ABS system malfunction in Toyota Camry 2009 - advice and experience wanted

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2009 Toyota Camry, gasoline engine, already has 140047 km behind it. My ABS system has stopped working and I suspect that the transmission fluid might be worn out. Last time at the mechanic did not work so well. Do you have any experience with similar problems and how did it go with your mechanic? What tips can you give me? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, I can say something about this topic. The last time I had to deal with this was with my 2006 Toyota Avensis. I had also noticed signs that my gearbox oil was no longer in order (it was itching between gear changes and I also suspected that the ABS system was no longer working because of this). In the end, the entire gearbox oil had to be changed, which is no big deal if you have a good mechanic. It took some time, but was not a serious matter. Look for a trustworthy mechanic, who knows, maybe other small problems could also be solved before they become big. Good luck and drive carefully!

Thanks for the quick reply! Sounds like it's not the world, thankfully. Do you happen to remember how much the fun cost you? And did any other problems occur afterwards? I'd really appreciate a tip.

Yes Moin, I'm glad I could help. Changing the transmission fluid cost me €365. It wasn't exactly cheap, but since then the car has been running great again. No jerking when changing gear and the ABS system is working perfectly again. I haven't had any further problems since the visit to the mechanic. But remember, that was only the case with my car. It's always good to have a trustworthy mechanic on hand who knows what he's doing. I hope I was able to help you and wish you good luck with your Toyota!

Moin, that sounds like a plan. Your advice was really helpful, thank you very much. 365 is a hefty price, but it's worth it for the safety and value retention of the car. I will now look for a good mechanic and get the matter sorted out. And then let's hope he doesn't dig up anything else. Thanks again and have a good trip with your Avensis!
