Hey Tom, Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really helpful to know that you faced similar issues. I'm a bit worried now that it might be the control unit in my case too. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the whole repair? And has everything been working fine since then, or did you run into any other related problems? Cheers, Mike
Hey Mike, Glad I could help! Just wanted to give you a quick update since I've been through this already. After getting it fixed at the dealer, my Lancer has been running perfectly, no more warning lights or issues with the ABS system. The Speed signal fault that was showing up initially is completely gone. The total bill came to 1000€, mainly because the ABS control unit was faulty and needed a complete replacement. Yeah, it wasn't cheap, but honestly, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. I mean, you can't really put a price on brake safety, right? It's been about a year since the repair, and I haven't had a single problem with it. The car's braking system works like new now. I'd definitely recommend getting yours checked out soon, might save you from bigger headaches down the road. Let me know how it goes with yours! Cheers, Tom
Hey Tom, Just wanted to give you an update on my situation. I finally got the courage to take my car to a new mechanic yesterday. You were right about getting it checked quickly! Turns out I got lucky, it wasn't the control unit after all. The mechanic found that one of the wheel speed sensors was corroded and sending faulty signals. Only cost me 250€ for the part and labor, which was a huge relief after hearing about your repair costs! They fixed it in about 2 hours, and now all the warning lights are off. The ABS and DSC are working perfectly again. The mechanic also gave the whole system a good check-up to make sure everything else was fine. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me understand what I might be dealing with. And I think I've found a reliable mechanic now too, which is a bonus! Cheers, Mike
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer (gasoline). The symptoms were exactly the same, ABS light stayed on, and the whole stability control system was inactive. Took it to the dealer since I wanted a proper diagnosis. Turned out it wasn't just a speed sensor in my case. The ABS control unit itself was defective and needed replacement. This was actually a pretty serious issue since it affected the entire brake safety system. They had to order a new control unit and reprogram it to match my car's specs. The job took about 2-3 days because they needed to get the part and do some extensive testing after installation to make sure everything was working correctly. Would definitely recommend getting it checked out soon, driving without ABS isn't the safest option, especially in bad weather. Hope this helps! Tom
