Thanks for sharing your experience with the door mechanism issue. I had nearly identical symptoms with my 2012 A1 about 6 months ago. After checking the door electronics, it was indeed a wiring issue rather than the door handle sensor I initially suspected. The car door wiring harness showed signs of wear exactly where you mentioned, near the hinge area. Would you mind sharing what you ended up paying for the repair? Also curious if youve had any issues with the door locking system since getting it fixed? My repair has held up well so far, but Id like to know if I should watch out for any recurring problems.

After noticing similar door electronics symptoms in my A3, I took it to a certified mechanic last month. The door handle electronics fault was completely resolved, they found and fixed a damaged cable connection near the door hinge, just like in your case. The total repair cost came to 95 Euro, which covered the labor and fixing the faulty wiring connection. Since the repair, the door mechanism has worked flawlessly. No recurring issues with the keyless entry or door switch functionality. From what the technician explained, once the wiring connection is properly repaired and sealed, these problems rarely come back. The key is making sure the repair addresses the root cause, in our cases, the wiring, rather than unnecessarily replacing the entire sensor system. The door actuator and other components were tested and found to be in good condition, which helped keep the repair costs reasonable. As long as you had the wiring properly repaired and sealed, you shouldnt expect any recurring sensor issues with the door electronics.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Finally went to get it checked at a certified shop and wanted to share my experience. The mechanic found corroded wiring in the door mechanism, just like others mentioned. They had to remove the door panel to access and repair the damaged sections near the hinge. The total repair came to 120 Euro including parts and labor. While checking the door electronics, they also tested the door switch and actuator, both were working fine. The issue was purely with the wiring harness connection. The car door has been working perfectly for 2 weeks now, no more keyless entry problems or error codes. The locking system responds immediately every time. Pretty relieved it wasnt the expensive door handle sensor replacement I initially feared. For anyone facing similar issues, definitely worth having the wiring checked first before replacing costlier components. The repair was much simpler and cheaper than expected.

Had the same problem on an A3 2015 gasoline. The door locking system failed completely on the driver side, showing similar symptoms with keyless entry not responding. Initial diagnosis pointed to a door handle sensor, but after thorough testing, it turned out to be a wiring fault between the door actuator and the central locking control module. The repair involved removing the door panel to access the wiring harness. The main issue was corroded connectors and a partially damaged wire near the door hinge area where cables frequently bend. The door switch and actuator components were actually fine, just not receiving proper signals due to the broken connection. This type of failure is actually quite common in these models after several years of use. The repair requires specific diagnostic equipment to properly test the door actuator signals. While not a serious mechanical issue affecting vehicle safety, it needs professional attention since improper repair can damage the entire locking system control module. Best to have a certified technician check the wiring before replacing any components, as the door handle or actuator may not be the root cause.
