Last service was at 64100 KM in December. Responding to share our diagnoses results. The car alarm system problem turned out to stem from a faulty ground connection rather than the auxiliary battery itself. The electrical issue was causing irregular battery signal readings and false alarms. The repair steps included: Testing auxiliary battery: 12.2V (within normal range), cleaning corroded ground points, replacing worn connection cables, full system reset Parts and labor totaled 180€, which was less than expected for a car battery related fix. The car alarm now works perfectly with no error codes. Much cheaper than replacing the entire auxiliary battery unit. Good to know: Bad ground connections often mimic battery alarm symptoms. Worth checking these first before replacing any parts.

Glad to hear you resolved the issue for less than my repair cost. Your diagnosis of the ground connection perfectly explains the symptoms, in my case, I wish I had checked the connections first before replacing the auxiliary battery. Looking back, my 300 probably had similar grounding issues that contributed to the electrical system problems. After learning from your experience, I noticed some corrosion on other ground points in my car alarm system during a recent inspection. Cleaning these connections helped maintain stable battery signal readings and prevented false alarms from recurring. This reinforces an important troubleshooting step: always verify ground connections and wiring before assuming a battery replacement is needed. The similar symptoms between bad grounds and failing batteries in the alarm system can be misleading. Your repair cost of 180€ seems very reasonable for the work done. Good call on testing the auxiliary battery voltage first, the 12.2V reading definitely indicated the battery itself wasnt the culprit. This kind of systematic diagnosis helps avoid unnecessary parts replacement.

Thanks for all the helpful replies about electrical issues. After living with the fixed car for a few weeks now, I can confirm the ground connection repair completely solved our 300s problems. The car alarm system works flawlessly and the battery signal readings remain stable. For anyone searching the forum with similar issues: A proper battery check is important, but do not overlook basic electrical connections. Our auxiliary battery tested fine at 12.2V despite the alarm acting up. The real culprit was corroded ground points causing irregular signals. Total repair costs stayed at 180€, which included cleaning connections, replacing worn cables and resetting the system. Much better than the potential 330€ for unnecessary battery replacement. Key learning: When your car alarm starts acting strange, have a mechanic test both the battery and ground connections. Bad grounds can perfectly mimic a failing auxiliary battery. The systematic approach saved us money and fixed the root cause.

I dealt with a similar battery alarm issue on my 2016 300 Diesel. The auxiliary battery for the alarm system started failing, causing similar symptoms to what you describe. After the car battery and alarm system began acting up, I noticed the security system would out of nowhere trigger. The workshop diagnosed it as a classic case of an aged auxiliary battery not holding proper charge, which was affecting the entire alarm system functionality. The fix involved: complete diagnosis of the electrical system, replacement of the auxiliary battery, recalibration of the alarm system, testing all security functions. Total cost came to 330€, including parts and labor. The repair resolved all battery signal issues and restored normal alarm system operation. To provide more specific advice, could you share: Current battery voltage readings? Age of both main and auxiliary batteries? Any other electrical issues you notice? Whether the alarm triggers out of nowhere? If you see any warning lights on the dash? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced with my 300.
