21 Renault Arkana Hybrid Brake Issues: Seeking Advice and Mechanic Experiences

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey there, Running into a spot of trouble with my '21 Renault Arkana hybrid, racked up around 162k on the meter so far. Noticed a warning light blinking on the speedo - pretty sure it's the brakes wearing thin. Had a nasty experience with my last mechanic, so trying to gather some wisdom here before heading back to the garage. Anyone encountered this with their Arkana or similar ride? What was your fix and how was your experience at your mechanic's workshop? Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated. Cheers!

Hey there, Sounds like a familiar issue! Had a similar problem with my '18 Renault Captur, but that was at around 140k on the dial. Definitely caught me off guard then. Turns out the warning light was spot on, the brakes were indeed in dire need of attention. We're talking worn out brake pads and warped rotors – both front and back. Not some minor inconvenience, but a serious problem that needed immediate attention. Ignored it at first until the screeching became too much to bear. Can't stress this enough, get it checked sooner rather than later. I took mine to the local mechanics, got real lucky with them. Absolute professionals, sorted out the issue really quickly. They replaced the brake pads, machined the rotors and even did a brake fluid flush. Not the quickest of fixes, yes, but it was indeed a thorough job. Smooth sailing since. What you've got here doesn't sound any different. Despite the problem with your last guy, I'd suggest you take your Arkana to a trusted mechanic. Let them take a proper look and set it straight. Nothing to worry, you'll be back on the road in no time! Safe driving!

Hey, Thanks heaps for the info! The situation with your Captur certainly seems like what I'm dealing with. I reckon I've got worn out brake pads and possibly even warped rotors myself, considering your experience. Hopefully, it's not something more serious. Does give me peace of mind knowing that you handled it pretty well at the mechanics, despite it not being the quickest of fixes. By the way, sorry to take you down memory lane, but do you recall roughly how much you forked out for the repairs? Also, has anything else cropped up with your ride since you had the brakes sorted? Cheers for helping a fellow Renault driver out! Safe travels!

Hey, No problem at all! Happy to help a fellow car enthusiast, especially a Renault brother. So, to remind the ol' memory, the brakes fix cost me around 480€ in total. The budget includes the replacement of brake pads, rotors machining, and a brake fluid flush. It was a bit of a wallet-hit, but totally worth it. Safety first, always! As for the second part of your question, since the brakes got sorted, the Captur's been riding like a dream, touch wood. The mechanic's work was spot-on, haven't had any other issues pop up since then. So, you should be cruisin' in no time once you get those brakes looked after, trust me on that. Keep safe on them roads! Cheers!

Hey there, That's a big help, really appreciate you taking time out to share your experience. €480 sounds steep, but can't really put a price on safety, right? Glad to hear your Captur's been smooth sailing ever since, definitely puts my mind at ease. I'll get my Arkana down to the mechanics first thing tomorrow - fingers crossed it goes as well as it did for you, and hopefully, no more unexpected issues pop up down the road. Thanks a ton for the advice. Happy driving! Cheers!
