Hi there, Cheers for the info, it sounds like we're in the same boat. So, it was the camshaft adjustment cable and plug in your case huh? Makes a lot of sense now. Just a quick question, how much did you have to shell out for the replacements and the check-up? Stuff like this can really burn a hole in your wallet sometimes. And, it's probably a tough one to guess, but since you fixed up your Megan, have you had any other problems crop up? Fingers crossed I won't have to go through something like this again anytime soon. Thanks again!
Hey, You're right about the repair potentially feeling like a punch to the wallet, it did to me too. The whole check-up and the replacement of the camshaft adjustment cable and plug cost me around 395€. But trust me, it's worth every penny considering it can prevent intense engine damage which could cost way more. Since I had the camshaft adjustment issue sorted with my mechanic, my Megan's been running smooth, no problems. All those nasty symptoms disappeared and haven't returned since the fix. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Oh, and regarding your last worry, you know automobiles – one can't guarantee nothing else will crop up down the lane. But, dealing with problems as they come instead of ignoring 'em usually saves you a lot of trouble and unexpected expense. Hope this helps!
Hey, You've put my mind at ease. 395€ does sound like a chunk of change but as you said, it beats the alternative of a seriously damaged engine. Good to know that all the symptoms disappeared after your fix, that gives me hope! Your honest word on the possible surprises down the road is appreciated too. Guess that's part of the whole driving package. It's just about dealing with it, eh? Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, really. I'll be taking the Arkana directly to the mechanic now. Wish me luck! Cheers!
Hey there, Your symptoms sound very similar to what I had on my 2020 Renault Megan RS. Constant check engine light, engine stuttering, and the drop in power, among other problems. The trouble was indeed with the camshaft adjustment. It seems your camshaft adjustment cable/plug is defective or oily. This was the exact same issue I had. Metal dust in your oil could be an offshoot of this issue because incorrect camshaft adjustments can cause metal-to-metal contact. Ideally, you should run a full diagnostics check. In my case, once the root cause was identified as the camshaft adjustment, they had to replace both the camshaft adjustment cable and plug. Checking the oil situation was also important since the metallic dust pointed towards damage in the engine. After the replacement, my car returned to normal and all those nagging problems disappeared. Remember, supposing it's a camshaft adjustment issue, don't take it lightly. It could lead to serious engine damage if not addressed promptly. Don't stress yourself. Just take it step by step. If your mechanic is good, he'll guide you through it. Cheers.
