2022 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Engine Issues: Suspected Camshaft Sensor Problem and Seeking Workshop Advice

Engine shuts off by itself

Unsteady engine

Longer cold start time

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Car won't start

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of trouble with my 2022 Seat Tarraco running on a Gasoline engine. Been noticing all sorts of weird symptoms lately - the check engine light keeps flashing, the engine turns off randomly, it's taking ages to start when cold, there's an obvious drop in power and sometimes it won't start at all. I suspect it could be something to do with the camshaft sensor causing all these problems but not completely sure. Has anyone ever experienced these issues or something similar and got them sorted out in a workshop? What was the diagnosis and, more importantly, the fix? Any insights or advice would be hugely appreciated!

Hey there, I totally feel your pain! I've got a 2020 Seat Ateca, pretty much just the SUV version of your Tarraco, and ran into something similar last year. I gotta be honest, my car knowledge is pretty low to none - I'm no mechanic, just your regular driver. Anyway, I ended up taking my Ateca to a local workshop because the symptoms you're describing were basically what mine was doing too, especially with the starting issues and check engine light. Turned out the issue was a defective sensor wheel on the camshafts. They did some mechanic magic or something, I'm not entirely sure of the details, but it did set me back 695 Euro. You didn't mention it, but what's the exact configuration of your vehicle? Engine type, transmission type, etc? Could help us compare better. Anyway, hope this is somewhat helpful, and don't worry - all this tech stuff is bound to cause problems sometimes!

Hey, appreciate your reply! My Tarraco's got a gasoline engine, and I'm running on an astonishing mileage of 153,797 KM. Last service was exactly a month ago, nothing major noticed then. Transmission is manual if that helps. I guess I'll have to head over to the nearest workshop and give 'em your insights, that could be a great starting point. 695 Euro sounds steep but guess it's something ya gotta do, eh? Cheers!

No worries! Yeah, sounds like our configurations aren't too far off. Mine's also a manual with a gas engine. It's quite surprising to face such issues on cars with such mileage, right? Well, again, don't take my word as gospel, I'm just sharing my own experience. And don't forget to also tell them about the unsteady engine and drop in power. That could be quite important in finding the root cause, who knows? And yes, unfortunately, these fixes can sometimes be a little heavy on the pocket, but hey, once it was sorted my Ateca's been running like a dream! Fingers crossed it'll be a quick fix for your Tarraco. Good luck man and keep us updated!

Hey, you're absolutely right! The drop in power bit felt like I was dragging a second car behind me, just totally unexpected. I'll definitely bring that up with the mechanic. And you're darn right about the costs - let's hope it doesn't dig a big hole in my pocket! Thanks a ton for your help and insights. Will keep you and the others posted on the progress. Cheers!
