Jerking on acceleration

Hey folks, I've got a 2022 Renault Arkana, hybrid model, with about 168K on the odometer. Recently, I've noticed a few issues that have me concerned - black smoke on acceleration, check engine light coming on, power loss, and the engine feeling a bit unstable. Additionally, the car's been jerking during acceleration and my fuel economy has taken a hit. I'm guessing it could be something with the Lambda sensor. I’ve had some rough experiences with mechanics in the past, so I wanted to get your opinion before I go in again. Anyone else dealt with something similar? Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences and how it went at the mechanic's. Cheers!

Hey, I totally get your struggle. I've got a 2019 Renault Captur and had similar issues a while back. The car started behaving just like yours, giving off black smoke, acting a bit unsteady, and began to guzzle fuel like there's no tomorrow! My first bet was Lambda sensor too, but it turned out the main culprit was a pesky exhaust leak. That seemed to have messed with the whole system, throwing off the oxygen levels and triggering the engine light, the jerky acceleration, the whole bit. You'd be amazed how much of an impact it can have. I took her to a local garage and they did a bit of work on it, mostly repairing the exhaust system which had a few leaky spots, indeed. It surely was a serious issue, messing up the car's performance and efficiency. Hopefully this might give a bit of a headstart when you hit the mechanic's. Worth checking out the exhaust system before looking into other issues. Good luck with it!

Hey there! I'm also a Renault owner, Arkana 2022, and boy I must say your story sounds familiar. I faced similar issues not too long ago. My engine would jerk, chug down more fuel, and belch smoke - just like an old steam train! Your insights make me think maybe my car troubles weren't due to the Lambda sensor either. Come to think of it, there was this odd sound that could've been an exhaust leak. Do you recall roughly how much you shelled out for the repair? And how's your Renault been holding up since the fix? Any similar troubles that have come out of the blue?

Hey! Yeah, your situation does ring some bells here. My Arkana was acting up just like an unruly teenager until I took it to my trusty local mechanic. After his magic touch, the Lambda sensor defect was sorted out and it's been running like a dream since then. As for the repair cost, the exhaust leak was fixed for 265€. Trust me, seeing how it improved the car's performance, it was worth every penny. To answer your last question, well, ever since the repair, my old girl's been running smooth and steady. No more surprises or unexpected problems. Here's hoping it stays that way! Good luck with your Arkana. I hope your car issues get sorted soon too.

Thanks a bunch for the reply! It's good to hear a first-hand experience from a fellow Renault owner and it does put my mind at ease. I was worried it would be something more severe but the possibility of it being an exhaust issue is somehow less intimidating. I now remember my Arkana making a bit of a weird noise, which could well be an exhaust leak that you experienced. Your details on the repair cost and how your car's been doing since then are much appreciated. Makes me reassured, and fingers crossed that it'll have the same positive outcome with my Arkana. I'll be making a trip to my mechanic soon and will definitely point him in the direction of the exhaust system. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond and share your experience, it really helps! Cheers!
