2022 Renault Arkana Engine Shutdown and Warning Light Issues: Potential Water Sensor Glitch?

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Car won't start

Engine shuts off by itself

Hey folks, I'm facing some troubles with my 2022 Renault Arkana, gasoline engine, clocked around 124k km. The beast ain't starting, the engine cuts off randomly, and there's this irritating warning light on the speedo. I'm assuming it could be a water sensor glitch. Any of you faced a similar situation and got your ride checked? I'm hesitant about going to the mechanic after the last unfortunate incident. I'd appreciate your experiences and advice before I head back there. Cheers!

Hey, you're not alone. Had a quite similar drama with my 2019 Renault Captur (guess it's a Renault thing, eh?). My engine was stalling and the dash kept flashing a warning, really gutted me. Turned out to be a sensor cable connection as you're speculating. After pulling hairs off my head, took it to my mechanic who diagnosed it as a defective sensor cable connection. He checked the link between the engine control unit and the sensors, found that the wiring connection had gone wonky. To my relief, it wasn't a massive issue, just that the problem lied in the wiring and not the sensors themselves. Remember the fix mainly involved re-establishing the connection—busted wires were replaced, and all connections were tidied up. This solved the issue for me, no more start fails, no more engine coughs, and no more bloody warning light. Heads up, these sensor issues can be really sneaky and irritating. So don't wait too long to get it checked out. Good luck with your beast!

Hey there, thanks heaps for chiming in with your experience - sounds too like my Arkana. Good to know it's not as bad as I was imagining! When you ended up taking the plunge and had the issue sorted with the sensor cables, do you recall how much it set you back? And hope you haven't run into anything else since? Cheers!

Hey, always happy to rear up for a fellow motor head in distress! On the matter of the rattle from my wallet, the fix for the sensor cable connection glitch ran me around 365 Euro. Not the best thing to happen, but way better than fearing the whole beast going kaput. So, I'd reckon it's worth every penny, especially if it's gonna save you from those extra sweat drops rolling down any time your Arkana decides to play dead. As for other issues, touch wood, there's been nothing since the fix. That water sensor nuisance was taken care of during the same visit to the mechanic. The lad did a fine job and since then I’ve had no drama with the engine cutting off or any warning lights flashing their ugly face. So I reckon it's your turn for the plunge. Believe me, it'll save some hassle in the long run. Good luck!

Ah, that's such a relief to read, can't thank you enough for shedding some light with your experience! It sure does make my situation less daunting. 365 Euro definitely sounds like a worthy fix for such an unpredictable and frustrating issue. Glad to hear your Captur has been running smoothly ever since, gives me hope for my Arkana. I'm definitely going to book it in for the folks to look at the sensors and also get that water sensor checked out. At this point, I'm ready for the plunge! Learning from you, I reckon it's a small price for the peace of mind. Now, just crossing fingers it all goes smoothly, without opening a new can of worms. Great chatting with you and much thanks again! Cheers!
