2022 Nissan Note Diesel Experiencing Black Smoke, Unstable Engine, and Whistling Sound Issue: Seeking Troubleshooting Tips and Solutions

Stalling while idling

Loud hissing on acceleration

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Whistling noise

Unsteady engine

Hey everyone, I'm wrestling with a pretty weird issue on my 2022 Nissan Note Diesel. My ride's spitting out black smoke when I hit the gas, the check engine light's on, and she's losing power. On top of that, the engine's unstable, jerking when I accelerate, hissing loudly, not to mention stalling and shaking at idle. There's also this whistling sound. I'm suspecting a fault in the boost pressure system. Anyone experienced something similar and got it fixed? Would love to hear about your workshop experiences and how you troubleshooted it. All tips are welcome!

Hey, I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have some hands-on experience with car issues. I had a similar issue with my 2020 Nissan Juke Diesel. It showed almost the same signs you mentioned; black smoke, unstable engine, whistling sound -the whole nine yards. Figured it was something to do with the turbo system too. I took it to my usual workshop, where they confirmed a Waste Gate Valve defect. Didn't know much about it but they said it helps regulate the turbo boost pressure. When it fails, you get uneven engine performance like you're experiencing. Fixing it wasn't cheap though, I paid 860 Euro. But, before jumping into conclusions, we need to check a few things. First, has your car had this issue before? Also, could you provide more info like the miles on the clock and the last time you serviced the turbo system? Any additional info might help get to the bottom of this quicker. Cheers!

Hey, Appreciate the response and sharing what happened with your Juke, sounds very similar to my case! To answer your questions - no, I haven't noticed this on my Note before but the symptoms kind of sneak up on you, so who knows. As far the mileage, she's seen a fair share, clocking in at 181495 KM at present. And the latest service was done just recently, but the turbo wasn't specifically checked - just the usual oil change and filter replacements, you know the drill. Really hoping this isn't a major issue that'll cost an arm and a leg. Though your waste gate valve insight has got me wondering if that's the culprit. Cheers for the tip, much appreciated!

Hey, No worries, glad I could share some insights from my own experience! Yeah, I totally get what you mean, these problems can creep up on you and before you know it, your car's acting all sorts of strange. Considering all the symptoms and your mileage, there could be quite a few components wearing out. However, keep in mind that the Waste Gate Valve issue in my Juke was just "a" solution, not necessarily "the" solution for all similar cases. In my experience, issues related to black smoke, power loss, and unstable engine behavior can sometimes be traced back to something as basic as clogged air filters or a dirty fuel system. I'd recommend ruling out these simpler and less costly possibilities first before jumping into more expensive repairs. If you've not done it already, it might help to get your Note's error codes read. Many auto parts stores offer to do this for free. It might not provide a full diagnosis, but it can help point you in the right direction. Keep us posted on what happens, alright? Fingers crossed it's not a massive fix! Cheers!

Hey, You're right, might be jumping the gun with the whole Waste Gate Valve theory. I'll definitely get the air filters checked out, and the fuel system cleaned. The idea of a less costly fix does sound much better right now! Didn't know auto-parts stores could read error codes. I'll definitely swing by one and see if they can point me in the right direction. Thanks a bunch for the actionable advice! Will certainly keep everyone posted here. Appreciate your crossing your fingers for me, need all the good vibes I can get. Take care and cheers!

Good with everyone, I have a problem with my Nissan Qashqai 2019 diesel, I've been a couple of months with the car going, on straights and slopes, in 5 and sometimes in 4 gear, cruise control no longer goes and sometimes the START STOP I get as failure, once I lit the chivato engine but no more, in the workshop of RODI MOTOR they charged me for putting the machine and do not know if it is a leak or is wrong the turbo, so it can be a cheap or expensive fix around 1000€ if it is the turbo, I wanted to know if there is anyone who has had the same or similar to mine problem thanks in advance

It sounds like you're dealing with a complex issue. The symptoms you're describing could be related to a number of things, including a turbo problem, as the workshop suggested. However, it could also be something as simple as a sensor malfunction. I would recommend getting a second opinion from another mechanic before proceeding with any expensive repairs. Also, it would be helpful if you could provide more information about the error code that triggered the check engine light. This could give us a better idea of what might be causing the problem. Please keep us updated on your progress.
