2021 Seat Tarraco Engine Troubles: Symptoms Suggest Camshaft Adjustment Issues

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Weird engine noise

Metal shavings in oil

Jerking on acceleration

Valve adjustment noise

Poor fuel economy

Loss of engine power

Hey folks! I'm dealing with an issue on my 2021 Seat Tarraco, gas engine, with roughly 60k on the clock. The check engine light is up, it's got poor mpg, and there's a notable loss in engine power. My ride jerks on acceleration, makes unusual valve and engine noises, plus, I found metal bits in the oil! I suspect something's amiss with my camshaft adjustment, given these signs. Had a bad run with a mechanic last time, so I'm kinda anxious. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? What was your experience like with your mechanic? Appreciate the help!

Hey, Had a similar pickle with my 2018 Seat Leon, just last year. Right around 50k mark, same symptoms - jerking, noises, and the dreaded check engine light. Turned out to be, indeed, a dodgy neck shaft solenoid valve, plus some issues with the power supply. Now, it wasn't all that breezy though. At the garage, they had me sweating buckets thinking my entire engine might've had it. We're talking complete engine strip down to get all those metal bits out of the oil and ensure no future damage. On top of that, they had to replace the defective valve and fix the power supply system, both pretty labour-intensive tasks. So yeah, although it sounds like a serious thing to deal with - and believe me, it is - it's definitely fixable. My advice? Don't procrastinate. Sort it out with your mechanic ASAP. That's what saved my Leon from a much bigger garage bill and probable engine failure. Drive safe!

Hey there, Wow, I can imagine how that must have made you sweat, sounds like a proper ordeal! By any chance, do you recall approximately how much you had to cough up for those repairs? And since getting your Leon fixed, was there anything else that popped up or has she been running smooth? Appreciate the advice – it sounds like I definitely need to act on this and fast. Safe driving to you too!

Hey, Yeah, no denying it was quite a hassle, but all's well that ends well, eh? As per your query, the fixing of the defective neck shaft solenoid valve, plus sorting out the power supply issue, put me back about 250€ in total. Not exactly pocket change, but considering the alternative (a total engine failure), I reckon it was money well spent. Since getting my Leon fixed, it's been smooth sailing, touch wood. The Camshaft adjustment issue was completely resolved and none of those old symptoms have shown their ugly head again. I mean, there's always something to keep an eye on with a car, but the serious stuff? That's all sorted for now. So yes, absolutely get it sorted asap. It might seem like a painful expense now, but trust me, you'll be saving yourself a bigger headache down the line. Keep me posted and stay safe on the road!

Hey, Thanks for the reassurance! Yeah, 250 bucks sounds harsh, but you're right - it beats the hell out of a full-blown engine failure. Your experience gives me hope that my Tarraco can get back to her best, after a little TLC from a good mechanic. And of course, prevention is always better than cure, right? Well, looks like I've got a trip to the garage to arrange then. Will deffo keep you updated on how it all turns out. Appreciate your help and the good wishes. Drive safe and take care!
