2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid Engine Issues and Trouble Starting: Seeking Advice

Engine shuts off by itself

Fault stored

Car won't start

Unsteady engine

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Hey folks, I'm having some issues with my 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid, currently at 32770 km and I'm not sure what to do. My check engine light is on, the engine is acting all quirky and turning off on its own. Add to it, I've lost power a few times and now, the car isn't even starting. The speedometer's warning light is blaring along with a persistent fault storage. Seems like something's up with the engine control but I'm hesitant to go to my mechanic after a recent bad experience. Have any of you guys had a similar problem? What was your experience like when you took it to your mechanic? I'd really appreciate your insights! Thanks in advance.

Hey there, Oh, I feel your pain! I have a 2018 Renault Megane R.S. and experienced something similar except for the warning light bit. The issue was with the engine control alright and it turns out, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) had developed a fault. My car had been acting weird, stalling and giving me a hard time while starting. Same as your case, the check engine light had been on for quite a bit. Took my car to the garage and the guys there confirmed my suspicions. The problem was deemed quite serious but thankfully, the affected component was fixed. I must say it wasn't an easy ride, but my 'Renny' is back to running just as smoothly as before once the faulty unit got replaced. It had me quite worried though, I won't deny it, considering the engine is pretty much the heart of any vehicle. Do get yours checked as soon as possible! Don't want that engine giving up on you in the middle of nowhere. Good luck!

Hey, Good to hear your 'Renny' is back in business! I definitely don't fancy the idea of my Arkana giving up on me mid-highway! But this ECU fault has me worried now though – sounds like a pretty hefty deal. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember how much damage it did to your wallet? And since the fix, has anything else come up or has your Megane been behaving? Cheers!

Hey again, Totally get your worries! Repair costs can be a bit of a sting, especially with something as crucial as the ECU. In my case, it took a hearty sum of 625€ to get my Megane's faulty bit sorted out. Not exactly wallet-friendly, but considering how smoothly Renny's been running since the fix, I'd say it was worth every penny. And to answer your second question - nah, nothing else has cropped up since the mechanic gave Renny the all-clear. The engine's been behaving itself perfectly, no more cheeky stallings or involuntary shutdowns. So it seems the engine control issue was the culprit all along. Hope this helps a little! Get your Arkana checked soon and fingers crossed, it's a quick fix. You've got this!

Hey again, Thanks a bunch for the details! 625 € is a bit steep, I gotta admit. But considering the smooth sailing you've had post-fix, it seems like a necessary hit that I might have to take for the sake of my Arkana. It feels better knowing what to expect. It's encouraging to hear that your Megane's cranky engine days are in the past. Fingers crossed, mine follows the same path post-repair. Time to brave the mechanic's, I guess! Thank you once more for sharing your experiences and shedding some light on this issue, it certainly did help. I'll get my Arkana checked out ASAP and hopefully, on my next check-in, it'll be with some good news. Wish me luck! Cheers!
