2021 Renault Arkana Gasoline Engine Start-Up Issues Possibly Related to Engine Control Unit Main Relay

Car won't start

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with my 2021 Renault Arkana which has a Gasoline engine. The thing just won't start. I suspect it may be due to a problem with the Engine control unit main relay. Have any of you experienced something similar and can provide some tips? How did you get it sorted out at the car workshop? What was your experience like? Really appreciate any insights you can share. Cheers!

Hey, I had a somewhat similar issue with my 2019 Renault Kadjar. I'm no mechanic, but I have some experience messing around with cars. Turns out my main relay was the culprit, just like you suspected. I took it to my local workshop - the guys are pretty skilled there. They diagnosed the issue and replaced the main relay for me. That set me back about 120 euro, which wasn't too bad. Since then, the car's been running smooth. Just out of curiosity, ever noticed any unusual noises or warning lights before it refused to start? More info could help give a more precise suggestion. Safe travels!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience, appreciate it! Just before my Arkana quit on me, I did notice the check engine warning light flickered a few times. There wasn't any strange noises, but the engine was not as responsive when I accelerated. My mileage hit 143437 km on my last journey, but there wasn't any issue during my latest service which was only a couple of months ago. Hopefully, it's just the main relay as you've pointed out. I'll take the car to the workshop tomorrow. Will let you know how it turns out. Take it easy!

Hey there again, Glad to help! That check engine light flicker and lack of response do point towards a possible relay issue. Just a reminder, when you take your Arkana into the workshop, be sure to specifically mention these symptoms. The guys there can then focus on looking at the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and rule out other potential issues like sensor malfunctions. Keep us updated. Hope your Renault will be back on the road soon! Stay safe. Cheers!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll make sure to mention those symptoms to the mechanics. Can't wait to get my good ol' Arkana back on the road. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Stay safe too, cheers!
