2020 Renault Arkana Exhibiting Brake and ABS Light Irregularities

ABS/DSC system is not working

Brake light not working

ABS warning light

Unresponsive brake pedal

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey there Gearheads! I'm driving a 2020 Renault Arkana, gasoline engine, clocked about 28,425 km. Lately, my ol' reliable has started acting up, with the ABS light continuously flashing, brake pedal going numb, Brake light's got its own issues, ABS/DSC practically dead, and a new warning light popping up in the speedometer area, you know, red alert kinda stuff. Now, my hunch is telling me that all these problems might be tied together. Maybe my Brake pedal position sensor has decided to take an unplanned vacation? Just a shot in the dark, you see, based on my last wrench-turning fiasco of a trip to the mechanic (a story for another day). Any of you experienced anything similar? Can I get your thoughts? Dealing with the mechanic jargon is sometimes too much and I’d love to hear from your past experiences, to be armed with knowledge before deciding about next mechanic visit. Cheers!

Hey, Your symptoms sound freakily familiar. I had a similar issue with my 2017 Renault Kadjar. Yeah, just like you, ABS light all lit up, the brake pedal going all wonky, and the warning lights are flashing where they shouldn't! Alright, so, my bet is on the ABS sensor. I won't bore you with the technical stuff, but it controls both the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the dynamic stability control (DSC). If it's gone bad, ''tis a major fault—enough to mess up all those things you mentioned. Now from my experience, when I brought my Kadjar to the garage, yep, they found out it was the ABS sensor causing all the chaos. They had to replace it. Hope this helps, and good luck with your repair. The Arkana is a solid ride and it should be all smooth sailing after they sort this out. Cheers!

Hey, thanks a ton for that swift reply! Your experience with your Kadjar does seem to echo my Arkana woes. So, if it's the ABS sensor as you guessed, I suppose I'll be coughing up some dough to get it replaced. By any chance, do you remember the rough ballpark figure that you parted with to fix up this ABS sensor trouble? Also, have you since stumbled upon any other related glitches or was that the be-all and end-all of it? Cheers and thanks in advance!

Heyya! Absolutely remember that! On the money part, though, you might not believe this - I didn't pay a dime. Zero. Zilch. It turned out it was actually a personal error. You've got it right, I was the problem, not the ABS sensor! Now, onto your second question. Since the trip to the mechanic, the brake pedal position sensor hasn't given me any more trouble. All clear on that front! If you're as lucky as I was, you won't be seeing those annoying warning lights anymore once that's sorted. Hope this gives you some peace of mind. You and your Arkana should be back on the road without a hitch soon. Good luck! Cheers!

Ah, how I wish I could be as fortunate as you! Personal error huh? Now, isn't that a jackpot I'd love to hit, but knowing my luck, I might need to brace for a hit on my wallet this time. That said, hearing about you sayonara-ing your troubles sure gives me hope. Fingers crossed that my Arkana and I can return to our peaceful drives soon. Thanks again, for taking the time to guide me through this. Your words have eased my worries and I'm headed to the mechanic first thing tomorrow. Let's hope for the best! Stay in gear, and cheers!
