Hey! Wow, your experience really does mirror what's happening to my Seltos! Solid advice sounds like I've got to find a trusty mechanic and get this DPF issue sorted once and for all. Just a couple of questions though, if you don't mind. Mind sharing how much the whole DPF replacement set you back? I'm trying to get a ballpark figure before I go hunting for quotes. Also, did anything else pop up after you got your DPF done, or has it been smooth sailings since then? I'm curious to know if there's anything else I might need to keep an eye out for. Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it
Hey there, Totally get you wanting to know the cost ahead of time. Well, it wasn't exactly a cheap fix, if I'm honest. That darn DPF had a defect on the inside and fixing it set me back about 1550.00 €. It was quite the hit to the ol' wallet, but let me tell you, it was worth every penny. The difference pre- and post-repair was like night and day. Ever since I got the DPF issue taken care of, it's been nothing but smooth cruising on the open road. She's been running like a charm, and I haven't had to deal with any more black smoke or those noisy exhausts since seeing the mechanic. So rest assured, once you've got this DPF issue dealt with, you should be good to go. Good luck with getting your Seltos sorted. I'm rooting for you,
Hey! Thanks a lot for the details. Costs are indeed a hard pill to swallow, but from what you've described, it clearly seems worth it. Can't wait to see my Seltos speeding on the road again without any black smoke tailing behind. Appreciate you sharing your experience. I'm feeling pretty confident about tackling this issue head-on now. Hopefully, I'll be joining you in the smooth cruising club soon. Cheers for the help. Much appreciated
Hey there, Honestly, your experience sounds eerily similar to what I went through with my 2017 Kia Sportage Diesel not too long ago. The same symptoms - the check engine light, the sluggish performance, and that darn black smoke - it was all too familiar. After dealing with it myself, turns out it WAS an issue with the Diesel Particle Filter (DPF). And yes, it's a fairly serious issue; your car's not just going on a tantrum, it's signaling you that something is way wrong internally. In my case, the DPF was found to be internally defective. It was responsible for the drop in power and the amount of black smoke that gave my backyard a new paint job. The filter effectively got clogged, and it affected the engine's combustion process. DPF regeneration did little to no good, the issue kept recurring. So, instead of keeping with the battle of regenerations, my mechanic decided to hit it at the root and replace the whole DPF system. And let me tell you it made a heck of a difference! The transformation was like day and night: no black smoke, improved driveability, and my 2017 Sportage felt like it was brand new again. I'm no expert, but I'd say he found the issue dead right. My advice – take your Seltos to a good mechanic with experience in handling Diesel Particle Filters. These are not simple oil changes or brake jobs, it's a pretty significant job and definitely not something to be taken lightly. All the best with your ride
