2019 Mazda CX30 Diesel Experiencing Power Loss and Unsteady Running - Potential Boost Pressure Control Issue?

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Unsteady engine

Hey there car gurus! I've got a curious issue with my 2019 Mazda CX30 Diesel. It's throwing a check engine light, feels like it's lost some power, running unsteady, and it jerks when I try to accelerate. My initial thought is that it could be something to do with the boost pressure control? Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences you've had, especially how this was sorted out at your workshop. Cheers!

Hey! I'm no expert but I've got a fair bit of experience with cars. I had a pretty similar issue with my 2017 Mazda CX3 Diesel. Turns out it was a problem with the Wastegate valve linkage, which I got adjusted in my local workshop. It set me back 240€, but boy was it worth it! Car's been smooth as butter since then. To get more specific, can you share what else the diagnostic codes say? It's important to clarify the exact issue in these scenarios. Keep us posted, yeah? Cheers!

Hey! Appreciate the quick response. I had a look at the diagnostic codes and one was a P2263 - Turbo/Supercharger Boost System Performance. After seeing that, your tip about the Wastegate valve linkage makes a lot of sense. After getting my last service at 133837 KM, my mechanic did say something about possible turbo issues, but I shrugged it off. Might be high time to revisit the workshop. Will keep you posted, thanks for the insights! Cheers!

No worries! The P2263 code is a big clue. It's definitely turbo related. Your boost pressure control could be part of it, but from my experience, it's often linked to problems with the wastegate valve or turbo actuator. In my case, as I said, an adjustment of the Wastegate valve linkage did the trick. So, I reckon heading back to your workshop is a good call. Remember to mention this code and your suspicion about the wastegate valve, might help them pinpoint it a bit quicker. Cheers and good luck! Hope your Mazda gets back in fighting shape soon!

Thanks so much for the advice! I'll definitely bring up the P2263 code and wastegate valve with my mechanic. Your experience has really helped me in narrowing down the issue. Crossing my fingers that a simple adjustment, like yours, is all it needs. Looking forward to having my Mazda running smoothly again! Will update after visiting the workshop. Cheers!
