2019 Lexus RX Hybrid Experiences Engine Issues: Possible Faulty Intake Air Temperature Sensor

Poor fuel economy

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Hey! I'm a bit panicky over here. My 2019 Lexus RX Hybrid with about 121k KM on it is acting up. Engine light's on, I can feel some power loss, the engine's unsteady, it jerks on acceleration and my petrol seems to vanish! I'm thinking it might be a Faulty signal from the intake air temperature sensor messing things up. I'd really appreciate your thoughts - Have any of you had similar issues? Plus, how did your garage trips go? I had a bit of a nightmare last time. Thanks in advance!

Hey! Looks like you're going through something similar to what I had with my 2016 Lexus RC. Engine light went on, a bit jittery on the drive, and, like you, my fuel also seemed to be draining quicker. Yep, the culprit was the pesky intake air temperature sensor. Seems it got defective and was giving false readings which messed up the fuel/air mixture. The garage trip wasn't too much hassle. The mechanic ran diagnostics, which detected the damaged sensor. Not a major issue, but it definitely needed fixing to avoid any further complications. They replaced the sensor and recalibrated everything. After the fix, it was back to cruising smoothly with no more weird fuel drains. Just make sure to address it soon, wouldn't want to risk any engine damage due to those false air temp readings. Keep calm, you'll see your Lexus bouncing back in no time!

Hey there, really appreciate your responses! It does seem like we're sailing in similar ships with this pesky sensor. Your story is pushing my instincts towards the intake air temperature sensor issue. By the way, can you recall how much you forked out for the fix? And since your repair, has anything else popped up, or has your Lexus been running smoothly? Thanks again for your inputs they're very helpful!

Yo! Glad I could help out. After the mechanic did his magic on the intake air temperature sensor, my Lexus has been running like a champ! As for the wallet damage, 155 € was the total to get the sensor sorted. Might feel a bit on the steep side, but trust me, it's worth every penny to get your baby back to normal again. No other issues since then. In fact, the fuel drains and engine jitters are all in the past now, so it's all systems go! So don't stress too much, yeah? Your Lexus will be back to being its reliable self in no time. Cheers!

Hey again! I can tell you that I'm much calmer now after your replies. 155 € does feel a bit steep but as long as my Lexus runs smoothly, it'll be money well spent. Thanks just doesn't cut it - I might have been in a bigger fix without your help. I'll be heading into the garage first thing tomorrow. Here's hoping my experience will be as smooth as yours. Catch you later! Cheers!
