2018 Volvo V90 Electrical Glitch and Park Distance Control Failure: Seeking Suggestions and Trusted Mechanic Recommendations

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Fault stored

General electric malfunction

Park distance control without function

Hey folks, I've been having a rough time with my 2018 Volvo V90 (Gasoline engine, about 18,450 KM on it). Lately, I've noticed the park distance control has stopped working and there seems to be a general electrical glitch going on. Also, there's a fault stored and a warning light showing up on my speedometer. I'm thinking this might be something to do with the radar sensor, but not entirely sure. Had a bit of a nightmarish experience with the mechanic last time and would love to hear if anyone else had a similar issue? What did you do? Also, any recommendations for trusty mechanics? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I totally get where you're coming from. I drive a '21 Volvo V60 and ran into issues with the radar sensor. Started pretty much as you've put it: park distance control seemed glitchy and I had a warning light bugging me on my speedometer. Anyway, after a few odd moments, I took it into the garage. The mechanics ran a full diagnostic and found out that my sensor was indeed dirty, just as you suspected. Telling you, it surprised me how such a small thing like a dirty sensor could create so much chaos. The mechanic simply cleaned it and did a few tweaks here and there to make sure everything was working as it should. I have to say my Volvo's been running smoothly since. So, don't stress too much, it's often simpler than we think. As for a trusty mechanic, you might want to hit up local forums or ask for recommendations in your area. I always say, an experienced Volvo mechanic is the best judge. Hope this helps!

Hey there! That's super helpful to know your '21 Volvo V60 had similar issues and it got sorted easily - it's somewhat reassuring! Could you remember how much setting this right cost you? And, have you run into any more electrical quirks or problems since that fix? Always helps to be prepared if there are more surprises in the toy box, right? Cheers for your help!

Hey! I'm definitely with you - no one enjoys surprise car issues. To answer your question, it wasn't as scary as I feared - getting that dirty sensor cleaned set me back about 45€. Pretty decent given all the trouble it was causing, right? Ever since the mechanic fixed it, my Volvo's been advancing like a champ! Not a problem to report, - no more freaky electrical quirks. I reckon that dodgy radar sensor was the culprit all along. I hope your glitch gets sorted out just as easily. Keep me posted, yeah? Good luck!

Hello again! Honestly, hearing that it was just a 45€ fix is a massive relief. I've been fearing for my wallet's wellbeing ever since the warning light popped up – you know how it goes. And the fact that your Volvo has been problem-free since is also great to hear. I'll definitely follow your advice and will look for a skilled Volvo mechanic in my area, then will get the sensor checked and cleaned. I'll ensure to keep you in the loop. Can't thank you enough for all your help and reassurance. Have a great day!
