2018 Nissan Terrano Displaying Warning Light and Experiencing Power Issues

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey folks, running into a bit of a puzzle with my 2018 Nissan Terrano, petrol engine. It's clocked up 90452 km. Lately, the car won't turn over, the lights are either dim or flickering, plus, a warning light keeps popping up on the speedo. Think it's something about a Message error, but can't be too sure. Got me scratching my head as my last trip to the mechanic wasn't the greatest. Anyone out there had similar problems and can recommend what to check or maybe a reliable mechanic to handle this? Would really appreciate any advice. Cheers!

Hey, Looks like you're in the same boat I was with my 2015 Nissan Juke, diesel engine, a while back. Had the same issue with the car not turning over and a pesky warning light popping up. Nearly drove me up the wall, I tell ya. Unearthed that it was the 'Cable connection of the control unit defective, connection to the BUS system.' Sounds like a mouthful but the mechanic was pretty sharp, managed to pin down the problem. Downside was getting that cable replaced took a few days at the garage. Is it a serious issue? Well, your car's essentially unable to communicate with its key parts. The control unit's the brain of the car, so you'd want it in tip-top shape. Now this isn't to say "panic," . It's not trivial but not the end of the world either. Get it fixed ASAP so you dodge further complications. Take Home Message: Give your mechanic a heads up about your control unit's cable connection so that they'll know where to start, okay? Good luck and keep us posted on how it turns out. Ride safe!

Hey there, Thanks for the insight! It's starting to make sense now that you mention the control unit, never would've thought of that on my own. Seems I'm also in for a few garage days, but hey, if it gets the old girl running smoothly, I'm all in. If it's not too personal, do you remember roughly how much you were set back to fix the control unit's cable problem? Just want to prepare my wallet for the hit. Also, did you experience any other issues afterward or was it pretty smooth sailing once the control unit cable was sorted out? Looking forward to hearing from you. Stay safe out there!

Hey, No worries at all! Well, to give you a heads up, when I got the control unit's cable issue sorted, it set me back about 260 €. Not exactly cheap, but better than waking up to an even bigger surprise, if you know what I mean. Considering the cable was causing the connection to the BUS system to go haywire, I sort of expected a few more niggles to pop up afterward. But, I gotta hand it to my mechanic, once he fixed up the cable, the pesky Message error was history and there were no more hitches. The old girl's been purring like a kitten since then. So, I'd say get it sorted sooner rather than later, your wallet will thank you in the long run. And remember to give your mechanic a hint about the control unit's cable connection, could save you both some time. Keep safe and all the best with the repairs! Let us know how it pans out. Cheers!

Hey, I can't thank you enough for your guidance! 260 € is definitely steep, but considering the headache it'll save me from, I guess it's a worthy investment. I'll definitely point my mechanic towards the control unit's cable issues. Hopefully, that'll straighten things out in a jiffy. Your experience sure gave me a peace of mind knowing that I won't be looking at more issues afterwards. Here's to hoping my story ends as smoothly as yours did. When things are squared away, I'll keep you and the community updated. Stay safe and continue being a life-saver for clueless folks like me out here! Cheers!
