Hey there, your experience with the Elantra resonates quite a bit. I had faced an eerily similar issue with my Veloster last summer. Even the mileage was somewhat close to what you have now, albeit my ABS control unit was not the culprit. It turned out to be just a sensor malfunction. Getting it fixed wasn't necessarily easy on the pocket, though, and the mechanic mentioned there could be more issues down the road due to the mileage. Out of curiosity, could you possibly share how much you had to shell out for your control unit replacement? Also, has anything else cropped up since then? Cheers!
Hey, good to see your reply! Your experience sounds like it mirrors my initial thoughts - I pegged it as a sensor fault. Quite the trip when I discovered it was the ABS control unit acting up. As for the pricing, brace yourself a bit – the ABS control unit fix set me back 1000.00 €. Definitely not a small number but necessary to keep the wheels running (and stopping) smoothly. Since you asked about post-fix issues, happy to report that I've had no other problems following the ABS unit repair. Might sound surprising, but it's definitely been smoother sailing on the roads since. Remember, after seeking mechanic advice, the ABS sensor issue turned out to be a false alarm and was completely fixed. Hope this helps you out. Here's hoping your Veloster bounces back quickly and that this is the last of the dodgy issues for you. Cheers!
Wow, thanks for getting back! Your advice is making my trip to the mechanic less stressful already. While the expense you mentioned is substantial, I must concur it is crucial for the safety of my Veloster. Glad to hear that the ABS issue was a false alarm for you and that no more surprises have cropped up since your ABS control unit repair. Right then, I'm off to schedule an appointment with my mechanic and hope for a straightforward fix. Your insights have been invaluable - can't thank you enough! I'll update you on how things pan out. Till then, cheers and safe driving!
Hey, your issue sounds really similar to what I experienced with my 2015 Hyundai Elantra a while back. The same, darn ABS light unusually popped up on my dashboard and my ABS went all haywire. Initially, I thought it was just a faulty sensor because I thought it would be the simplest explanation, but nah the troublemaker was actually the ABS control unit. I'm not really a gearhead but from what I learned, the ABS control unit is kind of like the brain that controls your ABS. It does a lot more than just read the speed of your wheels, it also sends and receives signals from the brake system or some-such. Anyway, my mechanic had to do a fair bit of troubleshooting to zero in on the actual cause. So, don't be too quick to assume it's just the ABS sensor. I won't float around the issue - it was indeed a serious type of a problem that needed to be dealt with ASAP. Just make sure you get a proper diagnostic at a reliable garage. If it is indeed the ABS control unit, don't be surprised. These things happen, cars are machines after all. Stay safe and hope your ride gets fixed up smoothly. Cheers!
