2018 Dacia Logan's Air Conditioning Issues: Seeking Solutions and Trusted Mechanic Suggestions

A/C System Not Engaging

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Air conditioning blows warm air

Hey! I'm wracking my brains over my 2018 Dacia Logan with a gas engine and around 73,563 KM on the clock. Recently, I noticed that my A/C blows only warm air, there's insufficient heating/cooling and sometimes the A/C system doesn't even kick in. I'm guessing it might be down to a duff A/C control valve? Had a sketchy experience with my last mechanic so I'd love to hear from anyone who's dealt with similar issues - what was it and how did you get it fixed? Was your mechanic any good? Thanks heaps in advance!

Hey, honestly sounds like a familiar issue. I've got a 2015 Dacia Sandero and faced the same problem last year with my AC. The issue wasn't with the A/C control valve actually. It was due to a leak in the evaporator that was causing refrigerant to seep out. The mechanic had to do some removing and installing stuff (not really a car whiz, pardon me!). It turned out to be a bit of a serious issue cause the AC wasn't just draining, the leak was affecting other components too. Sort of inconvenient, especially during the summer. If I were you, I'd get it checked out sooner rather than later and make sure you trust your mechanic. Don't need another sketchy experience, right? Stay cool!

Hey there! Wow, an evaporator leak, who would have thought? Appreciate the heads-up. Sounds like I need to get my Dacia Logan checked pronto to avoid any more complications. If you don't mind me asking, do you recall how much you ended up shelling out for the repairs? Also, has anything else cropped up with the AC or other parts since then? Trying to brace myself for what might be coming! Thanks again!

Hey again! Yeah, the air conditioning issue was a bit of a surprise myself! It cost me about 495€ total to fix the leak. Felt a touch hefty at that moment but worth every cent, considering how nice it is to have a proper working AC. Oh, and about the control valve, I think you nailed it in your previous post. Turned out mine had issues as well. But since I learned my lesson and didn't slack off, I took it straight to the mechanic, and sure enough, they fixed it up nice and neat. In a nutshell, it's all cool now, literally and figuratively! No extra hitches with the AC or any other parts either. Just remember acting swift always pays off with these car-related issues. Good luck with your Dacia Logan, hope it gets sorted soon!

Thanks a ton for your insight! You've really spared me a load of stress here. I was thinking maybe the control valve was faulty but an evaporator leak could indeed be the snag. A cost of 495€ isn't exactly cheap but if it solves the issue long term, then it's definitely worth it. And here's to hoping that the control valve isn't a problem for my Dacia Logan like it was for your Sandero. But if it is, I'm on it! Cheers for the pro tip about acting swiftly too. You're absolutely right! From now on, my motto's going to be 'a stitch in time saves nine'. Will be taking my car to the mechanic this week itself to put an end to any internal feuds it might be having! Thanks again for your help. Stay cool and catch ya later!
