Hey! Sounds like your previous ordeal with your Kia Soul is eerily similar to what I'm wrestling with now. Who'd have thought it could be a faulty fuel pressure regulator? Makes sense why the issues in my Ray are all over the place. Thanks for the clarity! Just out of curiosity, could you dredge up the memory and let me know roughly what that set you back? And since you've had it replaced, have you noticed any other related or unrelated issues cropping up? Cheers!
Hey! Ah, the cost and aftermath, right? Well, swapping out that cursed fuel pressure regulator set me back by about 250.00 €. Not chump change, but definitely worth it to banish those pesky issues. As for aftermath - it's been breezy so far. The check engine light took a permanent vacation and all those weird symptoms vanished. Oh, and remember the bit about the bad mixture preparation you mentioned earlier? Looks like your hunch was spot on. After that last trip to the mechanic, I can definitely confirm it's no longer an issue. All signs of it acting up have disappeared. Just goes to show, eh? A good mechanic can work miracles on your ride. I'd say don't fret too much about the cost. The peace of mind and a smooth ride are more than worth it. Cheers!
Hey, 250.00 €, huh? While it does pinch the pocket a bit, I reckon it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. Besides, the reassurance of having those niggling issues finally sorted out is worth it. I'm glad to hear you've had a smooth ride since the replacement. Hats off to your mechanic for their sharp diagnosis and smooth handling. I'll make sure to find myself a pro who knows their stuff. Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience and suggestions. It's a huge relief to have an idea of what might be wrong and a sense of direction on what steps to take next. I'll keep my fingers crossed that my situation turns out just as favourable as yours. Cheers!
Hey! Sound a lot like what I faced a while back with my 2014 Kia Soul. The symptoms that stood out for me were the black smoke and drop in engine power. My mechanic identified it as a defective fuel pressure regulator. The role of this regulator is to manage the pressure in the fuel delivery system, and when it malfunctions, it messes up the fuel-air mixture like you guessed. This leads to these issues: hard starting, loss in power, black smoke, rough idling, stalling and even the check engine light coming on. Once he swapped out the faulty regulator, the problems cleared up. It wasn't a small job, but it wasn't a massive issue either. It required time and precision to fix it right and to avoid any re-occurrences. Make sure to have a pro look over and diagnose it properly. Hope this helps, good luck. Cheers!
