Hey there, Reading through your ordeal reminds me of a similar problem I ran into with my own 2015 Mirai. Man, was that a headache! By any chance, do you recall the price tag that came with the door handle module replacement? And just out of curiosity, have you faced any other issues since the repair? I know our Mirais surprise us from time to time. Appreciate the info!
Hey! I completely understand your concerns, as ain't nobody likes an unexpected, hefty bill! To answer your question, the replacement of the door handle module ran me for about 170 bucks. Not the cheapest fix, but it certainly beats being locked out of your own car! As for your other question, my Camry has been running smooth as butter since the repair. The keyless entry system especially - no signs of any malfunction, thank goodness. It seems like once that cable connection to the outside door handle was sorted, everything else fell into place. I hope that helps and I'm crossing my fingers that your Mirai is back to its prime soon. Keep us updated!
Wow, thanks for the quick responses guys, totally appreciate it!, that sounds very similar to what's happening with my Mirai currently. I'll definitely have the cable connections checked when I take my car to the mechanic. Really hoping that we can wrap up this whole fiasco around the 170 mark like you managed to, nice to meet a fellow Mirai owner! I'll keep you updated on the saga. Fingers crossed that the car gets back on track soon. Thank you once again guys for such solid advice, it gives me a good place to start with my mechanic. You are amazing!
Hey! I’ve actually encountered a similar issue like yours with my 2018 Toyota Camry. My car was also behaving oddly, not giving the confirmation beep when locking or unlocking and sometimes the lights were being finicky too. I finally had to take it to my local mechanic. Turned out, the cable connection to the outside door handle electronics was defective. They had to replace the whole electronic door handle module, as the wires got corroded over time causing this issue, it was quite a critical problem. But once they replaced it, everything returned back to normal, and the car started working fine again. So yeah, I'd recommend you to have your mechanic check the cable connections to your door handle electronics. They were pretty efficient in diagnosing and fixing up my car. I had a pretty good experience. Anyway, I hope you find this information helpful. Check it out and see if it works for your Mirai. Good luck!
