2015 Toyota Alphard's Struggling Air Conditioning System: Seeking Advice and Experiences

Hey, seems like I'm having some trouble with my 2015 Toyota Alphard, Gasoline engine, clocking in at 89515 KM. The air conditioning is blowing warm, and neither the cooling or heating is up to the mark. On top of all, the A/C system isn't even engaging properly. I suspect there might be an issue with the interior temperature sensor but I'm not an expert. Plus, my last visit to the mechanic didn't go so well, so I'm a bit hesitant. Has anyone else experienced these same symptoms? Could you also share your mechanic's diagnosis and if you were happy with how the repair was handled? Appreciate your input!

Hey there, absolutely feel you on the A/C troubles! Had a similar issue with my 2012 Toyota Vellfire, right around the 90k mark too. Seems we're on the same boat my. Funny thing, the cause was exactly what you suspected, a dodgy interior temperature sensor. Turned out the sensor cable connection was defective. My mechanic explained it like this...the sensor couldn't send the right signals to the A/C system so it didn't know when to engage cooling or heating. That was why the air came out warm and the system didn't engage properly, just like yours. Sounds eerily similar, doesn't it? But don't go losing sleep over this; it definitely wasn't a catastrophic situation. The mechanic had to pull out the sensor, fix the cable connection, then fit the sensor back in. Wasn't too dramatic and was sorted in a day. The A/C's been running like a dream ever since, no more warm, gusty winds for me! Hope this helps ease your mind a bit. Guess it's just one of those things that happens when the mileage starts piling up! And before you ask, yes, my mechanic did a grand job, couldn't have asked for a smoother repair!

Hey, cheers for your reply! Your experience does indeed sound like a mirror image of my problems. Just goes to show our cars might have more in common than meets the eye, huh? It's a massive relief to hear that your fix wasn't anything too drastic, just the kind of news I needed. Out of curiosity, how much did your wallet complain after the repair job? Do you still remember the cost? Also, has anything else odd popped up since the fix or is it smooth sailing all the way? Fingers crossed it's the latter!

Hey, glad to hear my experience helped calm your nerves a bit! As for the cost, I remember pretty well since I was expecting a heftier bill! Believe it or not, it was merely 110.00 €. The mechanic only had to set straight the sensor cable connection, and let me tell you, it was money well spent! No more sweltering or freezing rides for me. And regarding your next question, it's been absolute smooth sailing. No weird stuff or additional complications since the fix, quite the contrary, the sensor issue was taken care of and I haven't come across any A/C problems anymore. Looks like my vehicle's not only survived but thrived since its little visit to the mechanic, touch wood!

G'day! Thanks a heap for coming back with all those details. 110.00 € doesn't sound too steep actually, and it's totally worth the price for a comfier ride. I was stressing out over the potential cost, but your experience has definitely put my nerves at ease! Also great to hear that you've had no more unexpected surprises, my car could definitely use some of that luck! I'll be sure to relay your story to my mechanic and hopefully, he can confirm it's the same issue. Can't thank you enough for sharing your whole experience and for the reassuring words - it’s time to get my AC blues sorted out!
