2015 Kia Quoris Engine Issues: Decreased Power, Poor Gas Mileage, and Knocking Combustion

Weird engine noise

Hey! I'm having some trouble with my 2015 Kia Quoris, gasoline engine, with around 74k on the clock. Recently it's been giving me headaches with issues like the check engine light coming on, decreased engine power, weird jerking when I hit the gas, the gas mileage is getting worse by the day and most disturbing is this strange sound coming from the engine. Based on the symptoms, I’m assuming it might be a case of Knocking combustion in a cylinder? I'm a bit wary about heading back to a mechanic due to past unpleasant experiences. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their car, and can you recommend a mechanic who sorted it out for you? Much appreciated!

Hey! Gotcha. I relate hard with this, had a similar problem with my 2012 Kia Sorento just a couple months back. The symptoms were basically the same: engine light flickering, decrease in power and especially that weird sound that was driving me crazy! My mileage tanked too. Turned out, I had deposits in the combustion chamber. Kept wondering why my once sweet ride was acting like a grumpy old. From my experience, this can be a much more serious issue than it appears at first. Never take a knocking combustion lightly, especially with gasoline engines. Those cunning deposits mess with the evenness of the combustion, hence the jerking when you step on the gas and those crazy sounds. Getting it all sorted needed some professional hands. Basically, they had to disassemble the chamber, clean the gunk off, and in my case, they even had to replace a few parts that had gotten too frayed. Took a couple days at the garage to set everything straight. Trust me, you don't want to let it slide. I had this genius mechanic sort it out for me, he works at the "Auto RoadWorks". Solid peeps, didn't try to upsell or anything shady. Hope things smooth out for you!

Hey there! I second every word of this - I had my 2014 Quoris acting up in a similar way, and it really was a wild goose chase till a recommended his garage to me. The diagnosis was similar with carbon buildup leading to knocking combustion. remember what it cost you to get everything sorted out? My ride's still at the garage, they're nearly done, but I haven't got the final bill yet. And just out of curiosity, has any other issues popped up since you got the initial problem fixed? Just want to brace myself for what might be coming. Cheers!

Hey! Your Quoris and my Sorento must be siblings from another Mother, haha! Well, to put your mind at ease, since that wizard at "Auto RoadWorks" got his hands dirty with the engine, the knocking combustion has stopped haunting my dreams. It's true what they say about professional help, eh? Now to the money talk, coughing up for Victor the Mechanic's skills and experience wasn't exactly what I'd call a joyride. At the same time, it wasn't highway robbery either, if you catch my drift. My wallet felt 425 Euro lighter after clearing out those stubborn combustion chamber deposits. I tell you, serving a sentence for dirt crimes wasn't cheap for my Sorento! And to grease your wheels a bit, nope, since then there hasn't been any other nasty surprises crawling up. Knock on wood, though! The only thing that I've been dealing with lately is the daily traffic. Safe to say, my ride's been behaving like a peach ever since the fix. Let's hope your Quoris story ends up as happily as mine! Keep on trucking!

you guys can't imagine how much your insights have calmed me down! I've been up the wall, stressing about the severity of the issues. Thanks for sharing your experiences, really gave me something to work with. Your experiences point towards a similar problem with mine. I'll definitely need a pro to take a look at my Quoris as well. "Auto RoadWorks" sounds promising, I trust word-of-mouth much more than flashy advertisements. Reckon I shouldn't delay it further, really want my ride to get back to its best soon, and I'll be prepared for a bill around the range you mentioned. Best of all, it's reassuring to hear that no other dirty surprises popped up after your fix. Fingers crossed that it'll be the same for me! Let's just hope that traffic is the only stress left for me to handle too. Appreciate your recommendations and insights, guys! Safe driving!
