2015 Fiat Tipo Gasoline Engine: ABS Warning Light Issue and Potential Wheel Speed Sensor Problem

ABS/DSC system is not working

Hey I've got a 2015 Fiat Tipo with a Gasoline engine throwing me some curveballs. The ABS warning light keeps popping up and the ABS/DSC system seems down. Also seeing a warning light on my speedometer and apparently, there's a stored fault in the system. I was thinking it might be a problem with the Wheel speed sensor, just a hunch though. Has anyone ever encountered something like this? If so, what did the workshop guys do to fix it? Cheers!

Hey there! I had a similar situation with my 2013 Fiat Punto. I'm no master mechanic but have tinkered with cars a bit. From what I know, the ABS control unit was the real culprit in my case. My local garage pinpointed this after running some diagnostics. Had to shell out around 1000€ to get it fixed. However, every car issue can be unique. Hence, to help you better, could you share more about your car's specifics like its mileage, has it been in an accident, etc? Cheers and good luck!

Hey! Thanks for the advice. So my Fiat Tipo runs pretty smooth overall. It's never been in an accident, fyi. Last service that I did was at the 125860 km - no particular issues then. Until this funky ABS thing started. It was smooth sailing till this ABS light issue popped up and speedometer started to act funny. Your Punto's situation sounds rather similar. Guess I need to make a trip to my local garage soon then. This ABS control unit - Is it easy to get replaced? Any ideas on how long it takes? Thanks again for your help!

Hey back at you! Glad to hear your Fiat's been behaving outside this anomaly. Moving to your question, the time it takes to replace the ABS control unit can really vary. For my Fiat Punto, the whole process was complete within the course of a day. Having said that, depending on the availability of the parts and the workload of your mechanic, it might take a little longer. But trust me, you don't want to drag feet on this. The ABS control unit, as irritating as its problems can be, is actually a vital safety feature. Messes with your braking system if it's faulty. Took a good chunk out of my wallet, but the peace of mind it brought was worth every penny. You might want to get that speed sensor looked at too while you're at it, just in case. Hopefully, it's nothing more than a sensor glitch. Either way, a good mechanic with the right diagnostic tools should be able to sort it out without breaking too much sweat (or your bank!). Don't forget to ask for an estimate when you go to the garage. Helps to sort out your budget beforehand! Keep us updated and good luck! Cheers.

Hi! Appreciate your thoughtful response. I didn't realize the ABS control unit was such an important safety feature, so I better not slack on this. Taking note to get an estimate from the garage so I don't end up with a stinging surprise. Also, I'll ensure the speed sensor typo gets a look while they're at it - again, will drop a note on what that might cost me as well. Didn't expect my Fiat’s rebellious phase would be so nerve-wracking. Ah well, guess it's time to pretend I’m rolling in dough to give my little devil the TLC it needs, haha! Anyway, will keep the gang here updated post the garage visit. Crossing fingers it'll be painless for both me and my Tipo. Until my next disaster, cheers!
