Hey there! Woah, your situation sounds eerily similar to the pickle I'm in now with my ol' 2013 Hyundai i30. Sounds like the faulty throttle valve was really messing with your ride. I can't believe they had to replace the entire throttle body, but I guess sometimes you've got to accept that compromise for a smooth drive, right? And good on ya for finding such a competent mechanic! If you don’t mind me asking, do you remember about how much it set you back to get all that fixed? Just trying to get a ballpark figure so I know what I might be in for. Stuff like this is never cheap, I know. Also, it's been a while since you got it fixed, has anything else popped up or has your Hyundai been running smoothly? I really appreciate your help. Cheers!

Hey again! Yeah, it totally messed with my ride. The whole thing was pretty intense. Concerning the cost, it ended up being around 345.00 €. Not exactly a minor expenditure, but considering the trouble it saved me, I'd say it's worthwhile. The main culprit was that the internals of the throttle valve were kaput. Had to get those bits sorted out pretty fast to prevent further damage. Trust me, you wouldn't want to neglect it. Since the fix, it's been all good! The throttle valve potentiometer error was completely taken care of by my ace mechanic. Ever since then, my Hyundai's been humming along nicely, so fingers crossed! Hope your story has a similar happy ending. Best of luck with it. Cheers!

Hey, thanks a ton for your quick reply! It sounds like this is definitely not something to put off. 345.00 € is a bit stingy on the pocket but if it brings my ride back to normal, then it's a price I'm willing to pay. I'm glad to hear that your Hyundai is running just fine now. That gives me hope! Guess it's about time I find myself a reliable mechanic. I wouldn't want my handy Hyundai giving up on me just yet, y'know. Your experience gave me a clearer picture of what I can expect. So thanks again! Wish me luck! Cheers!

Hey! I've got a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and experienced similar problems a while back - the annoying Check Engine light, unusual engine cut-offs, rocky drive, and poor fuel economy. Everything pointed towards a faulty throttle valve. To be honest, it was a pretty serious issue. The internal mechanics of the throttle valve of my car were defective. It basically messed up the air-fuel mixture, leading to poor car performance and all those issues you mentioned. My mechanic was on point and had decent diagnostic skills to figure this out. Once he identified the issue, he had to completely replace the throttle body as fixing the components wasn't an option. From what I gathered, it is a hefty job since the throttle body plays a vital part in how your car accelerates. Getting it resolved quickly is my advice; otherwise, it might lead to engine damage if left unattended. You've got to find a mechanic who is comfortable doing this type of work. Since this is pretty intensive, make sure they're reliable and know their stuff. Good luck.
