Check engine light on

Jerking on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Hey everyone, I've been having some issues with my 2013 Fiat Punto powered by a Gasoline engine lately. Symptoms include the check engine light being on, loss of engine power, weird jerks during acceleration, poor fuel economy, not to mention some strange noises from the engine. I'm suspecting it might be a knock sensor malfunction. Anybody else had this problem and how did you resolve it? What was your workshop experience like? I'm all ears for some tips and any shared experiences, please. Cheers!

Hey there! I've been through some similar issues on my 2011 Fiat Bravo. Don't get me wrong, I'm no mechanic but I do tinker around when I can, so I'd say I have some experience just from that. Turns out it wasn't the knock sensor in my case, but a cable/plug that was defective. I took it to my local workshop and to be honest, the guys there were golden. They diagnosed the problem pretty quick and had it fixed for me for about 95 Euro. So, you may want to look into that as well. But does your Fiat Punto have any additional mods or have you noticed if weather conditions affect the problem in any way? Just trying to get all the info here, it can help in figuring out the problem. Good luck!

Hey thanks for replying! No, no modifications on my Punto - been keeping it stock standard to avoid any complications. Can't say I've noticed any pattern with the weather, either. This problem appeared after the latest service, done around 36,896 km. So far, no fails or sensor errors shown in the inspection report. About your suggestion, it won't hurt to check the plugs. I appreciate your experience, they often don't get enough credit. I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience at your local workshop, gives me hope. All in all, cheers for the tips. Will update soon once I take it to the workshop!

Hey again! Ah, I see, keeping your Punto stock standard - smart move. Based on my own experiences, I honestly think these weird issues might just be because of some wiring or cabling problems. It can happen after service or even with wear and tear. I mean, I've seen it happen on my Bravo at quite a lower mileage than yours. I'm glad you found my previous suggestion helpful. Seriously, don't undermine these small things, always check 'em out. Though workshops can be a bit hit or miss sometimes, I think it's worth giving it a shot. You might even save a buck or two if it's just a plug issue. Alright fingers crossed for you. Don’t forget to update here after you visit the workshop, I'm really curious to know what's causing your Punto so much trouble. Best of luck!

Hey, it's good to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with something like this. You've given me quite a bit to think about and I'll definitely keep in mind to check on those little things like cables and plugs. Absolutely, every penny saved counts these days. I'll make sure to share my workshop experience and the eventual culprit with you and anyone else who might run into similar issues in the future. Thanks again for the tips and well wishes. Really appreciate it. Cheers!
