2012 Kia Quoris Key Fob Issues Possibly Linked to Defective Antenna

Key fob issues

Hey there Auto gurus! I've got a bit of a puzzler with my 2012 Kia Quoris, gas model with about 104k KM on the clock. Lately, it's been giving me some trouble with the key fob, and I'm kinda thinking it might be an issue with a defective antenna in the bumper. Has anyone else come across this? And how'd it go with your mechanic? Last time I went, it wasn't a fun visit, so draw me a picture of what I might expect? Cheers!

Hey there! Not a crazy expert here, but had a similar situation with my 2015 Kia Cadenza a while back. If it's really the bumper antenna cable acting up, it indeed might give you some headache with the key fob. So, during my last visit to the garage, they had to go through pretty extensive trouble-shooting. First, they eliminated the simpler possibilities - battery in the key fob, central locking system, and so on. When those were checked out as fine, they figured it might be the antenna. Yep, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the bumper antenna. They had to access the inside of the bumper, and then get to the root cause. It took time, but they took out the defective part and replaced it with a new one. In my case, it fixed the problem. Although it sounds serious, don't lose your night's sleep over this. It's really not a major issue, but it does need to get taken care of. And of course, ensure that the fate of your dear car is in good, professional hands! Hope this paints a decent picture! Good luck!

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! Sounds like you really had to dive deep into the problem to fix it. Gives me a clearer picture of what I might be facing. Do you happen to remember how much ya shelled out for this antenna game? Also, I hope your Kia Cadenza has been behaving well since? No other related surprises I hope! Cheers!

Hey! So, for my Kia Cadenza, the antenna fix did put a dent in my wallet, I won't sugarcoat it. I had to cough up around 260.00 € to sort out the defective cable connection to the bumper antenna. A bit steep, I know, but the peace of mind it brought was worth it. And since that antenna in the bumper got the repair job, I'm happy to report the old girl has been as good as gold! Not a single problem with the key fob or anything else antenna-related since. So, hopefully, you won't have any additional curveballs to deal with post-repair! I know it's a bit of a nuisance, but stay positive. It's just one of those things that come with the territory of being a car owner. Keep your mechanic on speed dial and let's hope your 2012 Kia Quoris keeps purring like a kitten after this! Good luck!

Oh you're a lifesaver! Yeah, seems like it's gonna be a bit of a hit to the wallet, but at least I'll get the peace of mind, as you mentioned. That's a relief your Cadenza didn't throw any more curveballs. Hopefully, my Quoris will follow the same path post-repair. Ah, the joys of car ownership, right? But hey, it's all part of the journey, I guess. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, helped me to get a clear idea of what to expect in this antenna adventure. Don't worry, already got my mechanic on speed dial! Here's hoping mine keeps purring too! Thanks a ton, and keep in touch! Cheers!
