Hey there, Wow, your experience sounds spot on to what I'm going through! Thanks for the heads up about the lambda sensor, I'll definitely bring that up when I take my Mohave in. Just curious if you recall the wallet damage for replacing the sensor and getting everything cleared? And has anything similar popped up since then or has it been smooth sailing with your Sorento? Again, appreciate the advice! Take care, Fellow Kia Comrade
Hey! Fellow Kia Comrade, Glad I could lend a hand! I remember the sensor replacement and fixes hit me for around 375.00 €. A bit of a wince, but then, don’t we all wanna hit the road all smooth-sailing? The good news is, after seeing my trusted mechanic, I haven't noticed any of the old symptoms rearing their ugly heads, particularly that annoying exhaust aftertreatment malfunction - dealt with and done. Since then, it's been pretty much clear sailing with my Sorento. Just remember to remind your guy to check out all the potential leaking spots, you never know! Wishing you a quick fix and happy motoring! Best, Your fellow road warrior
Hey! Thanks for the info, my! 375€ sounds fair for peace of mind and a smooth drive. I’ll definitely have that talk with my mechanic, and ensure he takes a good look for any potential leaks as advised. Best part, it's comforting to hear that your Sorento’s been treating you well post-repairs. Here's to hoping my Mohave follows suit. Will update you on how things turn out! Safe driving and keep in touch, Your Fellow Kia Comrade
Hey there, Sounds a lot like a situation I had not long ago with my 2009 Kia Sorento. Had all the same symptoms as you: black smoke, reduced power, funky exhaust smell, and a lit engine warning light. If it's like mine, it’s probably one of your lambda sensors playing up. For me, this wasn't a massive issue; I mean, it's not like a transmission failure or anything. My mechanic figured the sensor was the culprit after some thorough inspection and diag tests. He replaced the faulty lambda sensor, cleared all the diagnostic trouble codes, and then tested the car to make sure the issue was completely resolved. Remember to have your mechanic check the whole exhaust system too, just in case there's a leak or something. Anyways, hope your problem turns out to be something minor like mine. Good luck at the garage! Best, Your fellow Kia owner
