Hey, seems like your experience was a real nail-biter. Just a quick question, do you remember holy moly how much the repair cost was? I'm right now all letters & numbers at thinking about my poor 'ol Carens going through some wallet-emptying surgery too! Plus, did anything else pop up afterwards, or was it a smooth ride since then? Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, man!
Hey! I totally get your worry about the repair costs, been there done that! As far as I remember, it set me back about 350.00 € to sort out the naughty auxiliary heater. A decent chunk of change, yes, but trust me, it's worth it! Better safe than dealing with potential engine damage, right? After the mechanic fixed the PTC heater issue, my Sorento has been sailing smooth, with the heater behaving like a dream. Zero surprises since then! So, don't worry too much, get your Carens in the hands of a good mechanic and she'll be back cruising in no time. Good luck!
Cheers appreciate the honesty! Yeah, it's a bit of a sting, forking out 350 bucks, but you're right about the bigger picture. Engine damage is a nightmare I don't want to live through. So, on your say so, I'll be getting tough and taking my Carens to a mechanic, even if I'm a bit nervous. Your words give me hope that it's gonna be alright. No more dodging or playing the waiting game - off to get that PTC heater checked pronto. Hoping, just like with your Sorento, she'll be running smooth too. Fingers crossed! Thanks again for your advice and sharing your experience. Truly it's been a great help!
Hey, totally feel your struggle. Happened to me with my 2015 Kia Sorento, just a few years ago. That pesky PTC heater warning, coupled with overheating and quick coolant loss - oh boy! In my case, the issue was indeed the PTC heater - electric auxiliary heater. Turned out, the circuit in the heater was faulty and wasn't able to regulate the heat properly. It started by messing with the coolant levels, then all-out made the temperature spike. The worst bit? I completely understand your hesitation with mechanics because I've been in that boat too. However, I eventually found a reputable one who was able to identify the issue and sort it out. Yes, it was a serious fix because leaving it unattended could have done a number on the engine. Luckily, my mechanic didn't have to replace the entire unit. Instead, he was able to identify and isolate the defect in the circuit and fix it within a few days' time. As for your experience with mechanics, let me tell you it's all hit or miss. There are plenty of good guys out there, so don't let one bad experience keep you from getting your car sorted. Always better safe than sorry! So, get your Kia checked asap. The electric auxiliary heater isn't something to mess around with!
